Beautiful hotel steps from termini train / bus station.
Amazing breakfast with all of the Italian goodies...
Room was spacious and very clean with a generous size tub and shower... this hotel has a beautiful little dining area on its rooftop overlooking Rome... although quite expensive to eat there it truly is stunning. Staff was very friendly and welcoming giving us directions to all the Roman sights. One person in particular named Sergio was wonderful, always egar to help and very attentive. I would definitely advise anyone to stay there and enjoy this beautiful hotel.

Stayed here in Oct 2016... the review is almost 10 months late. Overall the hotel was ok and would have given a higher rating if not for the unpleasant experience during check-in process in the morning.
Good location, within 3-4 mins walk from Roma Termini station. Left our luggage and only checked in the evening, our room was upgraded to a junior suite. Room is spacious. The staff was courteous compared to her fellow colleagues in the morning. Breakfast is at the rooftop restaurant, the buffet breakfast spread was good.

The hotel front desk staffs were not courteous and unfriendly. We arrived in the morning and approached the front desk, none of the staffs made an effort to acknowledge our presence and as though they pretend not to see us. The manner she speaks and her voice intonation was unwelcoming. My very first impression of this hotel service (front desk) is rude and lousy customer service. On the contrary, the front desk staffs of the hotels we stayed Napoli, Firenze, Venezia and Roma (nearby Bettoja) were very courteous, helpful n welcoming.

We did not pick this hotel, it was part of our tour company's choice of hotels on our 10 day tour while in Italy. This hotel was a not so great introduction to Rome and Italy. The first impressions were bad, especially the staff and the rooms.

Upon arrival, no bell man was available. We had just finished a long day of travel and had to drag our own bags in. The front desk staff was not very friendly, I guess too many tour groups with lots of people ruining their day. We are Marriott owners and on this tour as part of our Destination Points program, the hotel was very far below Marriott standards. The bed was bad, the carpet old, the rooms smelled musty like your great grandmothers house that had been closed up for years....The toilets have these weird wall flush mechanisms half the time they wouldn't work and the button got stuck in the wall. We came home after a long day out touring and our bathroom was flooded with water coming down from the ceiling near the toilet.

Also, we needed to have laundry done and had one day to do it as we were leaving for our next stop on tour. I asked the front desk at least three times what to do - she said to use the laundry tag and leave it on the bed. I kept asking are you sure, just leave it on the bed. She said "yes, housekeeping picks it up in the morning". Well no one picked up the laundry, so I went down and told her no one did the laundry. She said well you needed to call the front desk in the morning - I told her I would have done that if she had given me the proper instructions!!!! I was really angry with them. I don't think it was a language issue - English vs. Italian - I think it was the front desk didn't even know the process in their own hotel.

We did end up getting a "superior" room because of the toilet flood in the bathroom. It was interesting to find out that there were "better" rooms - which was still not Marriott standards, but they had a much better bathroom. You need to know that if you are going with a tour group the room you get are the "standard" musty rooms. As one person on our tour said - the photos on the website are "photo-shopped for sure" not any rooms we got.

I would not recommend this hotel nor stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

The Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo is a stone's throw from Rome's central train station and walking distance to any tourist attraction in this tremendous city. It was built at a time when the great hotels were centrally located and near the first class mode of travel: the train. That era is past as is the greatness of this once luxurious hotel. The furniture, carpet and wall coverings all show the stress of the years gone by. But although she hasn't aged well, the management and staff of the Bettoja Hotel Mediterraneo make this a worthwhile place to stay in Rome. Our room was quiet (backside of hotel) and immaculate clean. The air conditioning worked (almost too well) and the water pressure was superb. If you are visiting Rome and just want a clean and quiet place to rest after a long day visiting the sites, this is it. Breakfast was very good: local baked delights, eggs and an espresso bar. Service was first class. My wife, a big vegetable eater, asked for a salad in the morning and got one...served with a smile and no extra charge. There are more modern hotels in Rome, but few as conveniently located to the train station and tourist attractions. The value for the money? Well above average. Would I stay here again: yes. Recommend asking for a room on the backside of the hotel if you crave quiet.
