The B & B is a small appartment within a larger building containing at least 2 other B & B establishments. This in itself is not a problem but a bit of a surprise if you're not expecting it.

The good things? The room was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. Location is okay as you are not far from the station (if you're coming from the airport check very carefully how to get to Trastavere by train otherwise you can end up walking a long way). It is also very close to a tram stop which takes you right into the centre of Rome by the Forum and Colosseum. However, the best part of Trastavere is also a tram stop away so if you plan to eat out in the lively part bear this in mind (but trams are very cheap to travel on).

The down side of Al Vicoletto? The shower head needed replacing as it didn't direct water properly or stay in its mount and the water temp was unreliable, running hot and cold without warning. The breakfast was dreadful. Long life milk, long life fruit juice, long life individually packaged doughnut-like rolls which were left in a basket day after day, pre-packed sliced bread. At the very least we expected fresh rolls or croissants each morning. The butter was rancid.

It didn't stop us enjoying Rome but we didn't come away thinking it was great accommodation and wanting to recommend it to friends visiting the city in the future.

Stayed: May 2016

Very poor standard of accommodation especially given the price. The place was dirty, had limited hot water, bugs / insects in the room, one pillow per person, no quilt covers, bathroom door would not shut. The host was very unhelpful and spoke very limited English. Just stay somewhere else!!!!

The hotel is a clean, cosy and cheap bargain. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
Staying in Trastevere was the best decision we made whrn travelling to Rome: the place is beautiful, picturesque, full of locals and by far the best place to eat exceptional meals at a decent price!
The hotel is situated near the train and bus station. The tram takes you directly to the city centre in 10 mins and is extremely frequent, every 5 minutes! So visiting Rome's landmarks is easy and ideal from here. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Two full months after booking they emailed me to let me know the booking had been cancelled and I had been charged the cancellation fee .... I had made no such request and can only assume it was a computer glitch or administration error on their part; (they were and remain unable to offer evidence or even an explanation over how the incident came about). Although the booking was saved they refused to acknowledge fault or refund the cancellation fee. Poor customer service!
