This is an oas in trastevere, an old monostory transformed to a hotel including a garden with orangetrees. Rooms are clean and decorated with thought and charm. It is odd to find a place which is silent in the midst of trastevere and still have all the restaurants around the corner. It is a small place and you feel you become part of a family. Service is personal and genuine. It feels that we will be disappointed visting any other hotel in Rome.

We stayed here 3 nights in October. I had read so many reviews that were excellent rating. I wondered if it would live up to all the positive ratings. Absolutely!!!!

We loved the location, setting and quiet retreat after a busy day.

Checking in was easy and we arrived at 10 and had a room ready for us. The girls at the desk were very friendly and helpful. We were not expecting that!
We had room 10 and they upgraded us to three person room. Used extra bed for suitcases. Room was spotless and beds very comfortable.

Breakfast was just right. Pastries, fruit, plates of meat, cereal juices bagels, toast and scrambled eggs. The best was coffee bistros coffee
Americana expresso, cappuccino and the blood orange juice. The pastries were some of the best we had in Rome.

Wine in evening with appetizers was a nice addition. Enjoyed talking to other travelers.

Our plug converter was not working and they let us borrow one. The last evening we ate on their recommendation at Tonnarello a local place that was wonderful. The first night we walked to Da Enzo in Travestere and it was one of my favorite meals. Make reservations for 730 the hotel made it for us.

We love this place and hope to return one day.

Santa Maria Trastevere is delightful place to stay for the traveller who enjoys being away from the tourist venue. My husband and I prefer staying where we can stroll through neighborhoods to understand the culture of the city, which is exactly what Santa Maria Trastevere provides. The breakfast furnishes excellent Italian espresso, latte, or Americano coffee. The selection of cold cuts, cheese, eggs, breads, pastries, and cereal allow for a nice choice. The staff even supplied gluten-free bread for me, with prior notice. A lovely enclosed garden helps the fof being in a villa rather than a hotel. Bikes are availabe, at no cost, for those who wish to cycle to landmarks.

We stayed here with our 3 children for 3 nights in the attic family room.
The room was fantastic. large and spacious even with 2 teenagers and a 10 year old.
The hotel staff are all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us.
Breakfast is an absolute feast with eggs, cakes, fruit, yogurt, cereals.. ! we didn't need to eat until evening time.
The hotel is so close to everything you want to see in Rome. We walked everywhere and the kids never complained so couldn't have been that far!! yet the hotel is so lovely and quiet but just around the corner from many restaurants and bars and the beautiful square.
Would highly recommend the Hotel Santa Maria and will hope to stay when we visit again.

Stayed here in August for 2 nights, not enough. Everything we read about the hotel was spot on and even better than anticipated. Would go back to Rome just to stay a few nights with these great people.

Room tip: Any, they would all be good though the roof top looked good
