We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are small but comfortable, the staff is friendly and extremely helpful, the breakfast is great and the price we paid for 4 nights was quite cheap compared to the quality of the establishment.

I highly recommend this place, especially because it is very close to the centre but still not in the noise.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on the higher floors, they are quieter and there is more light.

No help with bags when entering hotel. Staff just sit behind the desk and look at you. This is late at night, no thinking you might be cold or tired.

The breakfast is ok, not worth 7 or 8 euros.

The location is not great. Very hilly area that's difficult to walk around. There is no nearby tram. The train nearby is a good 10 minutes walk, it's not connected to the metro - stay on the metro line if you aren't staying near termini. It's a nice upmarket area but it's isolated and there isn't even cafes or corner stores nearby. It's all a good 10 minute walk and an uphill return.

The temperature is time controlled. Including towel racks etc. Shower has either a too hot or Luke warm setting. It's very powerful and sprays everywhere, or you can have it too weak and barely there.

The worst part are the staff. I was very unwell most of the trip and confined to my room. The housekeeping staff literally never shut up. They talk non stop. By talk I mean screech. I'm not sure what the dialect is, perhaps Sicilian? It's not sophisticated, it's like a moaning little girl that is complaining and having a meltdown. Non stop. At a high pitch. Yelling between staff members. You'd think they were fighting or arguing but they talked like that all day at this insanely loud level from early morning until late. No respect for guests that were sleeping or still in their rooms.

In most hotels in the world staff try not to make any noise as to not annoy guests or wake them..

Staff seem very disinterested at all. Doing this bare minimum that www required of their job.

Gym was locked; had to get it opened when you wanted it used. I stay at a hotel as I like the amenities and freedom. If I wanted to stay at someone's house where I need to interact with them I'd book an Airbnb. If you need to get it unlocked why not make it 24 hours? There's no heavy weight machines that can make noise.

Dear "ladyfitch",
Thank you for your comments on Tripadvisor, in which you drew my attention to your experience while guest at our Htl degli Aranci.
As every guest's review received you are of extreme importance to us.
First of all we do apologize and we are of course very disheartened that your stay with us did not meet your expectations.
We have discussed the points you raised with all our Head of Departments and as a result we are confident they will be more vigilant to be sure that similar inconvenience will not be repeated in the future and they will take the necessary steps to continue to improve their services. We regret your stay with us was perhaps not what it should have been. We trust that should you ever return to Rome, you will consider giving us an opportunity to counter your criticisms by visiting us again.
I assure you that our team and I will do our utmost to extend a welcome and a stay that you will remember for the right reasons.
With kind regards,

Hotel is great for location and basics. a 2 min tram or bus trip to city centre - located in a nice embassy belt. comfortable beds and a good hot shower. ticks the boxes. Service was a bit slow in the bar in the evenings. Breakfast is good and efficient. Overall a great boutique classic hotel. Would definitley stay again.

Room Tip: high floor for best view

Hotel Degli Aranci is in a quite residential area that houses several embassies. It can be reached fairly easily by bus or tram.
We were given a basement room with little natural light which was warm and stuffy. We asked for the air con to be mended but were told "it's November, there is only heating which we will turn down" and we're advised to open the window facing onto the road. This meant we were woken by noise from the road including rubbish collection, other guests arriving late and the neighbourhood dogs. The room was also beneath the reception/bar/dining room, so we were woken every morning by tables being moved and high heels click-clacking on the floor above. No room change was offered.
Breakfast was not included in our booking and when I looked at what was included for the 7 Euros per person, I ate elsewhere. (Highly recommend Matthews Bar nearby where 3 of us had breakfast for that price).
In its favour, wifi was free and reasonably fast, the shower was warm and the room kept clean. Most of the reception staff were friendly and spoke excellent English.

Dear Mr "AliOki"
Thank you for reviewing your stay at the Hotel degli Aranci.
We are glad that the location of our hotel looked fine at least at first sight... Anyway, being located into an historical building reconverted in hotel, there are few rooms not very large, but are all well equipped, clean and comfortable and overall it looks quite and is quite unpleasant the cells'comparison isn't it? We are anyway very glad to know that the staff was helpful and make your stay easy and comfortable.
We do hope you'll chance your mind regarding your stay with us and in anycase thanks for taking the time to review your stay . I remain at your kind disposal
Kind regards,

The hotel was just a bit to far from town centre for us you could get a no 53 bus down to the barberina area which is perfect for trevi fountain about 29 minutes on bus a taxi is ten euro .To the colloseuim is 2O Euro in a taxi . No problems with hotel check in easy ,staff very helpful , felt sorry for two waitresses at breakfast they were clearing tables setting tables keeping breakfast area topped up with food and still managed to make me a cappuccino without any fuss .I would recommend buying a 48 hr metro ticket does the bus also lets you see the whole city without any hassle ..
