Breathtaking exhibit. The same can be said for their restrooms. There is no excuse for the terrible condition and quality of maintenance. They should be ashamed to expose their patrons to such an unacceptable experience.

It took us a long time to find the gallery as the directions were not very clear. We came up from Spagna Metro and walked to our left (along a dirt track next to the main road and then across a car park entrance) to the park entrance. Once inside the park we walked straight on for miles instead of turning right straight to the gallery. It was worth the wait and the Borghese Gallery is the most magnificent building. The bernini statues are to die for and so beautiful. The walls and ceilings are fabulous and you can spend two hours downstairs. The paintings are upstairs and also worth a look but for us the statues alone are worth a visit. I would go upstairs first and then spend the majority of your time downstairs. Make sure you hire an audio guide for detailed descriptions and check the attached guide for which numbers to press as we got confused quite a lot !! We did not book a tour, simply turned up and was able to get onto the 3pm tour. They will get booked up in summer so probably best to arrange online however you will pay more. We paid 15 euros each and then another 5 for the audio guide. Worth every penny but be aware that tours are on the dot every 2 hours so if you arrive at 1.30pm you cannot go round until 3pm. There are gardens too so you could buy your ticket and do this first maybe. Enjoy, I promise you will x

This was our fourth trip back to this Gallery in the last 20 years. It always astounds us that a genius and master craftsman was able to work in marble the way Bernini did. Literally astounding. Well worth the trip. Memorable collection.

I enjoyed the sculptures most but lots of art too. Wandered the grounds which are very nice and there even is a zoo.
