Description: Historical restaurant “Matricianella” since 1957, located in the fascinating labyrinth of small alleys between Piazza di Spagna and Via della Fontanella Borghese, between the imposing Palazzo and Piazza San Lorenzo, now turned into an outdoor lounge. Comfortable halls full of small tables with checkered tablecloths and a little terrace overlooking the street, everything according to the Roman tradition.

We visited Matricianella following a recommendation from an Italian friend, we were not disappointed. The service was authentic and charming and the food, while not amazing, was delicious. The highlight was the wine list, an encyclopedia of wines - it has to be seen to be believed. Definitely worth a visit.

Hard to find, tucked away in a small street and not easy to find a seat ( we wait an hour st lunch time). But seems to be a classic Italian cuisine. I had for my first time the fried artichoke, a novelty. But my hi light was the lamb sweetbreads which was excellent. The waiter recommended wine by the glass was also very good and not too expensive . Overall a good experience. $25 pp lunch.

The food was good but not grate, the prices were reasonable, the staff was ok but not too friendly. We went by the recomendation from a friend but we did not find it special at all.

5 of us mostly Americans were booked by our Rome colleagues for dinner at a regular 8:00pm time. Good job we had the address an Uber /taxis. Appetizers great. A couple of us took primo plats of pasta, but not everyone. They did their best to ensure we al were not waiting on others, but it was clearly difficult. A few veal dishes and some vegetarian dishes. The beef Bresaola was fab... the frio misto was also a frio mystery... if they explained what was fried I didn’t hear or understand it.

The gnocchi was melting and the tomato sauce simply tomatoey.. the Arabians. It back, like it should and the roast lamb was just about the nicest lamb I’ve eaten in over a year.

Followed that up with peer Cotta in Barolo. The other gelato, tiramisu, sundae kind of deserts did not compare, not even the caramel “pudding”. Order the pears....
And yes, I think we were the only non Italians in there. Multiple taxis were ordered for us and arrived promptly. Thank you so much.
