Just to set the scene: a friend of mine turns 20, she is in the mood for Mex food, she won't accept anything else, she wants to go out with all of the clique (note: our extended group of friends counts about 20 people). Puerto Mexico answers our call. They let us book a table for all of us even if they normally don't accept reservations from large groups. The place is pleasantly colorful and bright, just a tad hard to reach if you don't have a car.
Whoever you ask of my friends, they will tell you that the food was heavenly - just like their sangria.
They also kept in mind of the necessities of a gluten intolerant person (me!), a lactose intolerant one, and two vegetarians - and I can assure you, it was just as good. Usually there are just one ore two courses I can safely eat in an ethnic menu (they don't want responsibilities) but here I stood up from the table full as an egg with nachos, spicy beef, turkey, tacos, two different types of enchiladas, and much more - and to dilute it all, half a liter of sangria.
The price is affordable, about 25€/person.
Will surely come back - maybe for a date night? Good food and wine are two indispensable ingredients for a romantic night after all~

After being heavily disappointed of what Rome had to offer for Mexican food, I stumbled on this place on the Internet and decided to give it a shot. I made a reservation--which you can do online and they'll send an email confirming the reservation in minutes. So We make our way to the restaurant but arrived 30min before opening, the servers were kind enough to let us have a seat and get settled. To start, I ordered a Mixed Appetizer plate (22€) which included vegetarian burrito, enchiladas, nachos with meat and cheese, and empanadas and had a Ginger Margherita (10€) to drink. IT WAS EVERYTHING. I'm going to assume the tequila was Espolon tequila as it was all over the bar--they even used it to serve our water . The drink was very smooth, but, I decided against having more because the price tag--it adds up! . I also ordered Enchiladas con Pollo and was pleasantly surprised to see it coated in a green tomatillo sauce--more so because I'm in Italy and they don't really have it (from what I know). That dish was 16€. I only had a bit of it before I gave in to the notion that the appetizers had be beat for the evening. The server was very kind to doggy bag it.

I recommend this spot for anyone who is homesick for some Mexican food, BUT BE WARY--the prices are high so just jump right into the main dishes rather than dabble with the appetizers--unless you have a friend!

Tonight we tried this new place close to Porta Portese. The restaurant is not too big, decorated with colorful tiles and some mexican ornaments. We had some cocktails which were nicely served in mexican mugs or in margharita glasses and some nachos with guacamole, sour cream, salsa picante and barbecue sauce (this one I don't get?). Main courses were ok. Personally I was a bit taken aback about some options in the menu. While a good deal were real mexican dishes there were some choices like Sangria and Gazapcho which were definitely Spanish and not an inch Mexican. Overall a nice experience.
