We came to Bologna to eat... not going to lie. So we were just looking for a comfy b&b near the station. B&B Hope was perfect for us!

The B&B is really close to the new exit of the station. Look at the map before exiting the station and find the correct exit- it will save you a lot of walking.

We turned up a few hours earlier than expected but were lucky to meet Mirko as he was heading out.

Mirko, the owner is super friendly. The room was very clean and airy. The wifi signal was good. And the breakfast (1.50€) was really good.

Get Mirko's restaurant recommendation, too. Best meal I had in Italy and it was right around the corner. So good.

I'd stay at B&B Hope again.

The neighbourhood might be a bit scary at night but isn't that bad. On arrival the friendly owner was awaiting us and gave us usefull information. The room and bathroom were okay, a bit outdated but everything you need including climate control. We ordered the breakfast on bed for only 1,50€ (!) which consisted out of a capuchino, multi vitamin juice and a homemade croissant with a filling you can choose, we loved the breakfast. Overall this is an average hotel with some nice surprises.

We arrived in Bologna which we thought was just a 4 hour stop over waiting for another train but it turned out the train was full so we were left stranded in Bologna. We saw this b&b on hostel world. We walked through a thunder storm to get here and our expectations weren't too high due to the price. We arrived at the front door without a reservation on the off chance they might have a spare room. We called the number on the door and within 2 minutes a gentleman from a close by shop came to meet us. He was very friendly. Corridors were very clean and maintained well. Seems very secure with two doors to unlock before you enter room and a reinforced card unlocked front door. Room and bathroom was immaculate. Bathroom was very spacious. Bedroom had good free wifi and flat screen television. Staff couldn't have been more helful and friendly and saved us from a bad situation. After travelling Europe this was one of the best value for money accom. weve had. €25 each for double bed. Highly reccomend and would return.

We have travelled extensively this year from Turkey through Europe via Romania, Austria, Germany, France and Italy. Our reviews are based on these experiences in terms of facilities, locations and cost etc.
We were sent an email from the owner asking what time we would be arriving and asking that we pay in cash, instead of credit card. This wasn't a problem for us but could cause concerns to some.
We walked from the station, it takes about 15 mins and the area is not the best. We arrived at the time we say, and no one was available. There is a tel no on the door, but why should we have to incur phone charges to book in, especially when they knew our expected time of arrival. Luckily, another couple who were staying there turned up and made a call.
A person from a nearby shop came over and let us in. She seemed surprised that we wanted to check in, but eventually, she told us we were in room 302. Third floor, without lifts. She explained about the front door locking system and also asked us if we wanted breakfast, and at what time. She did not make us feel welcome, nor did she provide any info re room facilities nor what was available locally. She seemed keen to take the money from us.
I asked her for a pillow but she said they were full so it may be difficult to get an extra pillow, but she would try. We waited 30 mins but no one turned up so we went out.
First impressions were the room was very basic, the double bed was hard but comfy for us. The pillows were thin and rubbish. The shutters were good for making the room dark and keeping out the noise. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was adequate but showed signs of use. However, we could hear the people in the next room using their bathroom.
Our breakfast which we ordered for 9am, did not turn up at the time. At 9.25 a man knocked at our door, and apologised for being late. He confirmed that we had ordered a breakfast, and said he would be 10 mins. He arrived about 15 mins later with 2 trays holding juice, croissant and cappuchino. This costs 1 Euro and is excellent VFM - however, you need to ensure it is on time.
Good points - Free wi fi, good breakfast, comfy bed.
Negatives - Location, check in, no one on site, basic room, location not the best, cost. 180 euros paid in cash
Would not return, would not recommend.

Watch out with making a reservation in this place, because WE DIDNT END UP AT THE B&B NEAR THE STATION AS PROMISED!! We made the reservation through telephone and we planned to see each other at the B&B near the station in the afternoon the next day. So we did everything to be there on time, we were but there was no one there. I called the number and we got a lot of excuses.... the fact was that a guest who was already staying there wanted to stay a night extra, while he ALREADY PROMISED the room to us. But 'no problem' he would take us to his other B&B a 'little bit further out of the center'. For us the location was very important, we came by train and we had to catch our plane the next day and the busses tot the airport left from the station. But we also knew it would be very hard to find an other (not too expensive) place to stay, so we accepted the offer.

In the end we ended up in a room with seperated beds in a big appartmentbuilding next to the highway outside of the city centre. To get into the center we had to take a busride for 30 minutes. The next day we had to take a taxi to the airport, which was 20 euro's: a lot more expensive than the bus. And still for all this trouble, the man wanted 70 euros. We tried to get a discount and the only thing he wanted to do was give us 5 euro discount. Really sad... And if all this wasn't enough, the next day our backs hurted a lot because of the lousy matrasses!!
