Bergamo's old charming town surrounds this small but fine hotel. Staff is friendly, aircondition works. However, do not expect 4 stars. The water comes out of the shower hose warm, then cold, then warm again, the rooms are small, and if you happen to get a room to the street you will be in the center of the turist noise, too. Breakfast is OK, but no more, the bathrooms have been renovated recently, but the TV has almost italian channels only. All in all a perfect hotel to stay for 2 or 3 nights. A bit high on the price edge, but you compensate with the really low prices of the restaurants in the area.

Room Tip: get a room with balcony

Dear sir, we are sorry that you had some problem with the shower, but we have no a standard mixer but one for hot water and one for cold water that you have to mix by yourself and so it is not so straightforward to find the right temperature. The Classic rooms face on the street, but we have also Superior or Deluxe room that have a bigger size, and in the room facing on the street we have double windows to keep out the noise. The hotel opened in 2006, so everithing is new and we have all the most modern conforts, also satellite tv with english, france, german and spanish channels, so it is very strage that you haven't find them (there is also the channels list in the room directory ).

This is a nice little hotel. Really central, lovely location, convenient for everywhere in Bergamo. The rooms are large, the beds very comfortable and although the streets in the old city are narrow and noisy the triple glazing shuts out virtually all the sound. The bathrooms are spacious, the views out of the back windows are amazing. I first thought that it would be better if there was a little bar in the hotel, and somewhere to sit and wait for the rest of our small group - but then I realised that this hotel is just a step from several very nice bars, cafes and restaurants. Breakfast is a buffet, with good choice. Relatively expensive, but so is everywhere in Bergamo Alta. Would recommend.

Room Tip: A room at the back would be quieter and would mean you could leave the windows open at night.

This is a small hotel right off of the old square. The location is superb for walking the old parts of the city. It's a bit difficult to get to by car. You will need to park about 1/4 mile away. It's possible to drop off luggage from your car if it's really small and the right time of day, but I wouldn't really advise approaching by car. It's mostly a pedestrian only zone through there. The rooms are comfortable, the hotel staff are pleasant, and the breakfast was good. The hotel is right by the church with its bells that chime songs and at certain hours (not every hour, just some of them). A mid afternoon nap is likely to result in a rude awakening as the clock chimes 27 o'clock. The hotel is quaint and pleasant and it was an enjoyable stay.

As mentioned in almost all reviews, this hotel is located off the Citta Alta in old town Bergamo. You have to drag luggage up the steps to the very small lobby. This is basically a bed and breakfast in the guise of a hotel. The couple that appears to own(?) and run the place did not emit the sort of charm and personality I have experienced with other hotels in the area.

In fact, my co-worker commented that the "man at the front desk" (who serves coffee for breakfast) is not exactly very warm and personable. I would wholeheartedly agree. I don't expect a hug or a handshake but a smile and hello with some warmth would be appreciated.

Breakfast got old fast as the items did not change much. Typical European fare with lots of carbohydrates. The little cream donuts were frozen and thawed out each day. Personally, I wish they was some creativity in the breakfast items.

The elevator was not great and would barely fit 3 people. I was glad there was no fire because there is no stairs to floor 2 and 3! Fire code violation? Maybe not in Bergamo. I prefer stairs for the attempt to stay healthy but not here.

The room was big but the location of the room can be a problem. If you are unlucky, you are on the main street so you get the foot traffic and murmur of people talking to at least 11PM on a Friday to Sunday. There is a restaurant across the street/alley that also can be noisy. The shutters do not keep the light out of the room which is annoying as well.

The shower had two outlets. One was a shower head that directed water straight down and the other was a movable shower head at the end of a hose. It was extremely difficult to get the water temperature correctly set. Even after a few days, it was not intuitive and was frustrating. Also, I had not place to put my soap in the shower as there was no shelf. That was fun!!

I don't watch too much TV but the TV was small and the guide for channels was not even close as to what you could watch.

The door had to be pushed closed very hard to lock. Also, the light was out above the entrance making it fun to get the key in the key hole.

The bed was almost one the ground. It had no frame. It was basically a box spring on the floor with a mattress atop of it. Not very comfortable as well.

WiFi worked most of the time but there was a portion of time when it did not.

The owners appear to smoke which is not great in the morning.

Personally, I have experienced much better places and will be not going back here unless I have no choice.

Room Tip: ask to be in the back of the hotel away from the front.

Dear sir, we are sorry that you haven't a good experience in our hotel.
The Hotel Piazza Vecchia is located in an historical building of 1300, so we cannot put a big elevator in. Obviously we have stairs to reach all the floors of the hotel, and be sure that there are no fire code violation !I'm sorry but I think is offensive on your part to have written such a thing.
The breakfast is composed by fresch fruits, cereals, bread, jam, ham, cheese, eggs, donuts, croassant, cake, juice, buiscuits, it is a Continental breakfast for a 13 rooms hotel. All of our rooms looking on the front have windows with triple glazing to keep out the noise, so you can sleep without problem. The shutters are like all the wooden shutters and if properly closed they keep out the light. In the showers there are shelfs, it's very strange that you haven't seen it (but after all, you did not even seen the stairs). In your opinion there are problems with tv, with bed, with shower, with breakfast, with windows, with door, wifi, owner, it seems that everithing was wrong and so I'm sorry but I cannot really reply further.

It's located in the Citta Alta right off the square of the same name. You must be able to walk up about 15 steps to reach the hotel's reception, but after that there is a lift and wide hallways to reach the rooms. It is a very charming place, nicely updated and run by a friendly family. The rooms and bathrooms are larger than average and quite comfortable. Everywhere we wanted to visit was right out the front door.

Thank you for your review. We remember all our guest that we are locatel in a 1300 house, the main entrance has few steps to reach the reception but, if needed, we have a secondary entrance with lift from the ground floor.
