We stayed in this open plan apartment while going to the Italian F1 Grand Prix in Monza. It is an open plan apartment with a downstairs consisting of a room with kitchen & couch, a shower room to the back with wc (all in a separate bathroom) and stars leading up to an open plan mezzanine bedroom. Just a point - the bed is on the floor (in the oriental style) and isn't perfectly suited for people "of a certain age" (i.e. me!). The apartment is situated in a typical Milan apartment block and we found it to be very quiet. It is in a superb location. If you turn right out of the apartment and right again you will find a main road with plenty of shops, bars and patisseries. Stroll up this road for 15 mins and you will find yourself in busy squares with plenty of bars and restaurants etc. Another 15 mins and you will find the piazza duomo opening up in front of you. The owner is extremely helpful and helped us with routes for the superb public transport as well as recommending bars, restaurants and sights etc. The best tip I can offer is to buy a 24hr travel pass (4 euros 50 cents at time of writing). This will get you on to the trams (which are a very convenient way of going about the city - a route 3 tram takes you from the stop 2 mins from the apartment to the Duomo in about 10 mins and you can jump on and off at all the stops in between), metro and local trains. For eating, do as the people of Milan do: go to the many bars up and down the canal at "happy hour" (from 8pm - 10pm) and buy a cocktail (about 8 euros) and then you can access an all you can eat buffet which consisted of a whole range of foods, from pasta to salad to sandwiches etc. I would definitely recommend this apartment as a perfect place to stay when visiting Milan.
