We were met by Michel personally and he was most accommodating and helped us with our bags up all the stairs to our room. Now firstly this hotel is not on the main canal but on a smaller connecting one. If you have alot of bags you are going to feel the walk to the hotel. There is no way to avoid stairs as soon as you get off train. You need to get over main bridge across main canal ...all stairs and than you need to hop over smaller canals on the way to the hotel. A water taxi is expensive but i would've done it to avoid the complaining from my wife & kids. Anyway the hotel is charming and loved the bathroom , but make sure you pick the ones on one level not a split level...we were away from our kids and my wife was worried about the kids climbing the steep stairs at night. There is no meals here so enjoy walking around the canals and trying different food. Make sure you pay for a gondolar ride..about 100 euro for 40 mins but sure worth it when you hear about the history and see all this facinating water city has to offer.

We have had such a nice time in the city. The apartments were perfectly situated: near the city center, but far enough to stay in a quiet area and feel like you are part of the local people and not as much part of the tourist chaos.
The apartments are nicely furnished in the Venice style. The only point of criticism was that the sofa beds were not very suitable for an adult. But if you bring your kids, it's fine.
The owner was very helpfull and friendly. The city itself is breathtaking.

We spent a week in Venice in November 2011. Staying at Residence Palazzo Odoni gave us the opportunity to experience living in Venice as the locals do, Santa Croce being a peaceful residential neighborhood yet within walking distance of Piazzale Roma and Ferrovia. Unlocking the main door to the palazzo courtyard every night when we returned felt like we were returning to our very own home in Venice. The apartment is thoughtfully furnished and very comfortable. Opening windows allowed natural light in, although our apartment didn't have a view.
The small kitchenette allowed us to prepare and enjoy hearty savory breakfasts and expressos in the comfort of our apartment. Michele is very responsive to requests.
we enjoyed our stay very much and would love to return to stay again.

We chose Palazzo Odoni after reading great reviews. We made abooking for a 3 person room and were surprised by Alessandro (we later learned the owner family) who personally escorted us to our 2 bedrrom apartment with a jacuzzi in the master bedroom :-)

The rooms were very clean and free wi-fi in the lobby and in our room was a great surprise for our 16 year old son. We had heard about the great breakfast and it was very nice.

It was a 5 minute walk to the peoplemover and straight to the cruise port. Also, the hotel is 5 minutes to the number 2 (red) line for the canal "bus" boats. A great ride through Venice and you end up right at San Marcos area.

When we come back to Venice, we will stay at Palazzo Odoni since we found this part of Venice much more authentic than the San Marcos area which is much more touristy. This is definitely the place to stay.

Also there is a great restaurant next to the hotel and Palazzo Odoni has agreat map of Venice with 10 suggestions of good restaurants.

In summary, a great 15th century building with 10 rooms managed by a great family for 7 generations - great combination!

We stayed in the Caravaggio apartment for 5 nights in September. This was a beautiful airy apartment with a huge bedroom, lounge room and good sized bathroom in a beautiful renovated old palazzo. I had booked online with Michele some months before we arrived and everything was organised without a problem via email with our credit card details. The apartment is beautiful and gave us the opportunity to cook in a small kitchenette (quite well appointed with a good sized refrigerator) which was great after 3 weeks living in hotels and eating out. The area is very convenient to the train and bus station for arrivals and departures as well as close to the vaporetto station in Piazzale roma. There are a lot of interesting places to visit locally with wonderful restaurants and bars in Santa Margherita square about 10 mins away. There are great local bakeries and small grocery shops around including a supermarket close by in Piazzale Roma.
The service from Michele and his wife Emma is great , available when needed and efficient and welcoming.
The apartment overlooks a canal and at night you can watch the gondolas pass by. A wonderful experience of Venice, a beautiful city.
Would love to go back and stay here again.
