We stayed here as a couple in April 2012 for 3 nights. It is a about a 10min walk from the train station, but a bit of an effort with 2 large suitcases going over a couple of bridges with stairs. Since we came from Australia & we were towards the end of our trip, our suitcases were not small like the European ones, where home is a lot closer. The hotel is easy to miss, so make sure you have a good idea where it is, as there is only a tiny sign next to the door.
On arrival, we received a warm greeting and given assistance with the bags. There is an elevator to the upper floors. We were lucky to receive an upgrade to a suite that overlooked the canal. Our room was terrific & we were shown through as features were pointed out such as the Murano glass chandeliers and antique furniture. The room is a very nice blend of old & modern, extremely well presented & clean. There was a small fridge in the room, however, there were also very strict instructions about not bringing any of your own food & drink to the room & storing it in the fridge. I can't see the harm in bringing in some of your own bottled water, so I thought that was a bit too strict, as long as you keep the fridge clean & tidy.
We had a fantastic view over the canal where you often saw the gondola boats going by. There are a few small cafe/fast food few places nearby & some restaurants. It is about a 20-25 minute ride on the vaperetto to St Marco. We bought a 2 day pass.
The hotel is generally quiet, however, being on the canal also meant that early one morning the laundry boat was there & it was quite noisy & woke us up. Not sure how often it comes.
Breakfast was typically European - cold meats, cheese, pastries, cakes, fruit, boiled eggs. Because it was April, it was served in a very small breakfast room instead of the roof top terrace. The breakfast room was next door to our room & it was a shame the breakfast could not be served in their inside dining room as the sound of crockery & cutlery was quite loud in our room each morning and I hope management give more thought to this.
The bathroom facilities were terrific & there were a range of bathroom supplies. However, one morning we woke to no hot water at all. After explaining to reception what had happened, they explained that it was due to a large group of people checking out that morning. When we came back that afternoon, we were walked back to our room to check that the water was hot, which it was. However, it didn't help the fact that we had to endure a cold shower to start the day. My tip would be to have a shower at night,....just in case!
On one of the days, reception asked us if we wanted to take a free taxi ride to the Murano Glass Factory. We took up the offer & fell right into the Murano trap. Be warned, there will be a sales person waiting for you. It is great to have individual attention & to see how they make things & have the processes explained, but then they take you to their sales/showroom & place a great deal of pressure on you to but something & they are VERY expensive. I could see how someone could feel obliged to buy after been given a taxi ride & a peronalised tour. You have to then take a vaperetto back yourself. Perhaps the hotel could be more upfront about what is entailed when accepting their suggestion.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Despite the couple of hiccups, we would stay here again as it is a beautiful hotel, was good value for money due to its location, clean, new, stylish & the staff were very friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not on the same floor as the breakfast room during the colder months so you don't wake to the sound of crockery each morning. A room facing the canal is beautiful!

Dear Karissa, I am very pleased to know that you enjoyed staying here with us. Unfortunately for the sounds of morning facts from the boats we can't do anything, but I can tell you that we have moved to the breakfast room, and it is now far from the rooms so none is more disturbed by the noise ... you know we opened recently, and try to improve a little bit at a time.
I thank you for your great review
Kind regards
Francesca Polo

We booked this hotel for a 2 night stay following a cruise and were completely overwhelmed. (agree with other review outside appearance not much but inside was a delight) We arrived early morning not expecting our room to be ready but hoping to leave our luggage and Stefano greeted us with an upgrade and confirmed room was available immediately. We were very impressed with the large room which overlooked the canal and had a beautiful bathroom. The roof terrace was luxurious, with lovely comfortable loungers and chairs with large umbrellas providing shade. Breakfast was available from 7.30 - 10.00 but they would be flexible if required, and there was an excellant choice available. Many extras provided in room such as toothbrushes and various toileteries. Stefano arranged a free taxi boat to Murano island which included a tour of a glass factory. No hard sell and well worth it. You can then use the water bus to return. Would recommend getting a flexi ticket so you can hop on and off as much as you like. We bought a 36 hr ticket which was great value. Also recommend visit to Burano island, which is beautiful. The location of hotel is perfect for railway, bus station and port. Loved Venice and would return to this hotel and recommend it completely.

Room Tip: We had the Morosini room, see picture.

Just a short walk from the train station, it was everything we dreamed our stay would be and more. Stefano was incredibly gracious and even upgraded us without us even asking. It was a bit of a challenge to find but so worth it. Right on a quiet canal. We couldn't have been any happier with our stay. Breakfast was great too.

ca dei polo is a beautiful place, we stayed 1 night before boarding a cruise ship. We were not the easiest guests - arriving after midnight with a family of 5 that needed to be squeezed into 1 room - the staff made it all possible and were very flexible, friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast in beautiful and intimate breakfast room which we had all to ourselves, after which we explored the city before boarding the ship. When we got back to Venice after 1 week we spent another day in Venice before heading home, We went back to Ca Dei Polo to ask a few favours from Stefano the manager, he remembered who we were , and he helped us out in a fantastic way, making our last day in Venice unforgettable. Stefano, you are the best !!!!.

This hotel sits beside a narrow, quiet canal just off the Grand Canal and is 5 or 10 minute walk from the Santa Lucia railway station. When we arrived at the hotel my heart sank as the outside appearance is not exactly attractive but what a surprise awaited on the inside! It is a very old building that has been brilliantly renovated and tastefully decorated. On a landing near our room were two limited edition Miro prints!
Our double room with en suite bathroom, on the second floor (there is a small, quiet lift) was large and well appointed, with an easily operated air conditioner. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.
The dining room, overlooking the canal, is beautifully decorated. A variety of breads, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, cold meats, cheese, cereals and fruit juices as well as tea or coffee were provided in the self service breakfast room where the waitresses were charming and attentive.
I very much doubt if we could have found a better hotel anywhere in Venice and we would certainly make it our first choice if we should ever think of returning to Venice.
