“Decent place for a short stay”
Reviewed 16 November 2011

The hotel is a decent place for a short trip to amazing Venice. The best part is the proximity to Rialto as well as the Saint Marcus square. It is located in a very narrow lane and can easily be missed if you dont know the exact directions. The hotel staff was kind enough to send us the directions on email in advance. Enjoy the Rialto in the evening with the gondolas passing by, a delicious Italian dinner by the canal is really romantic. You get into the memories of the Hindi film "The Great Gambler" with Amitabh Bachchan singing "Do Labzon ki hai" in a Gondola or the film "The Tourist" with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. The downside of the Hotel is that the staircare is steep, there is no lift and the AC was non functioning in the heat of August.

OK-This hotel has a great location- and YES as everyone states Amber and her sister are very nice, and the men that work the front desk do not speak any English. We stayed for almost a week and had a double room, it was small so you better love your room mate- The Good- The Location, it was very clean and Amber and her sister who worked the front desk and they were so sweet to even apologize for the weather the day it rained. Around the corner is the Devil's Forest Pub- which has a very good 14 Euro Bottle of house wine, sports on the 3 TVs, and good snack food- and guess what real Venetians! Not just tourists---
The Bad- There was not enough hot water- you only had about 2 minutes- I literally took to putting the shampoo in my hand before I entered to save the 10 seconds- as I always ended with a cold shower to rinse my hair. Second very big downer- THIN WALLS- we could hear everyone and they could hear us- we knew where our neighbors were going for the day and what tv show they had on- if you are very light sleeper- you need to really consider this before staying for any period of time--Travelling light for Venice is good- put BRING YOUR TOILETRIES!! They do not provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel-I went to the store and had to buy my own. On the the hairdryer--if you have thick, long hair consider bringing a hairdryer. It took almost 20 minutes what take 6 or 7 at home to get my hair dry. If I knew that I would have traded the weight for the time.

It was so nice to have a hotel that took minutes to find rather than hours! The Disney store is on the corner of the little street and the hotel has a sign on it's "bridge" over the street. The only tricky thing is that the front door looks like it is part of a house, so when you see the "bridge" stop and look to the right. Look on the list of tenants and push the buzzer for the hotel and they'll let you right in. There is a set of steep steps into the lobby and some of the rooms cross that bridge and are up another set of steps. So pack light!
I loved the central location that made it easy to stop by to drop things off or rest for a minute. And wherever you are in the city just follow the signs for the Rialto Bridge to get back. So easy!
The sisters are very friendly and speak great English. The men on duty at night don't speak much English but are very nice.
The room is small, but this is Venice. The shower is tiny! I had a single room and the bed was more like a double. And having the minifridge to hold a drink and an extra piece of pizza was nice.
If you want to spend your days seeing Venice, not sitting in your hotel room, you can't beat the location or price of this hotel. And I slept great here too!

Great hotel in a fantastic position near the Rialto Bridge and the city markets and just a short walk to everywhere that matters in Venice. It was very hard to find and you MUST print off the location map from the web site - we didn't and wandered for an hour, passing the relevant sign at least 4 times!!! Room was small but clean and bathroom was tiny. Room sizes are various and I think that you should ask for larger room and bathroom if that is important to you. The staff were all great and very helpful, especially when I had to get medical attention. We would definitely return to SS and happily recommend it to you.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room and bathroom if you need them
