I really liked this hotel. There isn't always someone around, so if you need a lot of attention, this probably isn't a great choice, but you can contact the staff easily if needed. The breakfast is typically Italian: some nice rolls with butter, jam, and cheese, a croissant, and good, strong coffee, but the standout is that it is served in the lovely enclosed garden. The proximity to the Jewish Ghetto, and the less touristic areas of the Cannareggio district make this a really nice choice if you want a more authentic experience of Venice, but the vaporetto stop just over a small bridge and around a corner make it easy to get wherever you might want to go fairly easily. It's also a nice walk to San Marco, without having to cross one of the major bridges.

The Casa Del Melograno is situated in the Carnereggio neighborhood in Venizia (Venice). It's somewhat removed from the more touristy areas and hustle and bustle, but still a convenient 10-15 was to mostly anything. We were checked in by Marco, who is extremely helpful and friendly. After going over the area map and seeing us to our room, he also gave us a number of recommendations for dinner , directions to the closest water taxi steps away, and areas of interest.

We have a larger 2 bed room, so we're actually in the annex building, but it's about 50 steps from the main hotel, and nice and quiet as well. Don't miss the friendly brother and sister cats that hang out in the lobby and courtyard.

Breakfast is served in a lovely courtyard filled with Pomegranate trees (or upstairs if the weather is cooler/rainy). It's pretty light, consisting mainly of warm rolls and croissants as well as coffee and tea selections. They are able to accommodate allergy restrictions if asked ahead of time, and I was able to have some Gluten Free items for breakfast.

This hotel is small and friendly and in a remarkably convenient location. It is ten minutes (with luggage) walk from the Guglie stop on the hydrofoil service from the airport and two minutes from a traghetti stop on the Gran Canal.

There a many reasonable and a couple of excellent restaurants within five minutes of the hotel too.

Room tip: f you have a room overlooking the small canal it is charming but lots of early morning commercial boats.

We stayed here one night and enjoyed our time. Though it is not a fancy place, everything was clean and ready for us. We were on the main floor so were glad the hotel was located on a back street: you could hear people walking by, though it was not loud enough to bother us. Great location for being tucked away off the busy main street, but a quick walk to all the shops. The receptionist was friendly and gave us a map and advice on where to go. They also allowed us to keep our bags there after checkout since our train left later in the day. The entrance is right off a canal, so a true Venice experience!

Good location, close to the water bus stop and main street. Not easy to find, but the direction instruction from hotel confirmation was very helpful.

"Reception desk service is open 8am-8pm" (what they said on my confirmation mail), but you have to ring the bell to check-in. The guy sat behind the desk seemed not very happy to answer your questions;like: "Is this our room? "when he opened the door next to the kitchen without said anything, I asked, he said "That's why I opened the door" ; " Could we have two maps, please?", he said "One room one map. " When I tried to fill my drinking bottle from kitchen's tap, he tried to stop me and said " that's only for staff." So, I hardly dare to ask any other questions until I checked out, " I was wondering if you have a storage room for our baggage, we'd like to leave our bags until 8pm to catch the night train", he said " Are you joking? Can't you see we have very limited space, do you think we have an extra room for your luggage?". Well, I guess that means NO, so we left all bags at that narrow corridor for 9 hours.

Our room is ok(classic double room), next to the kitchen on ground floor, big windows face to a lovely small garden, a good size toilet but a little bit smelly (smelt like drain, maybe from the Canal down there); breakfast was plain, served with a friendly young lady, not a buffet as Expedia website said, but the hot croissant was tasty. Not very good WiFi connection.

Quite difference experience stayed in this canal side small inn, that would be nice if the receptionist can show his hospitable service more to make visitors feel welcome.

By the way, I lost the map in the first morning, and then we had to use google maps for rest of the two days in Venice, because one room one map policy.

Room tip: Our room was next to the reception and kitchen, pick the room upstairs if you prefer a quite room, but the dinning room is at upstairs too, may noisy at breakfast time.
