Booked from booking.com. The hotel lied about about the size of the room saying it is 25 sqmt.
In fact the room was very small, barely 12 sqmt. As soon as we entered the hotel we were very disappointed as it was very bad smell everywhere in corridor and reception area. No one was there to check us in. We had to wait ling time. The rooms were with no windows and very dirty furniture. In the morning we called the reception about 20 times to order breakfast, but no one responded. For breakfast they give cappuccino and “7 days” croissants in a pack with small juice in paper box. Very poor breakfast brought from super market as the hotel does not have own kitchen. Bathroom was fine but tiny.

Absolute Little Gem of a place in a perfect location . The facilities were spotlessly clean and the host Maria was very kind and gracious . She cannot speak a word of English but manages to converse with you perfectly . Very close to shops, cafes and bars and walking distance to all tourist hotspots . The breakfast was basic but adequate and the coffee delicious ... can not recommend this place highly enough if you want a reasonable location in beautiful Venice .

This is the definition of a 'you get what you pay for' but not necessarily a bad thing!

We arrived late at night and Maria greeted us and showed us to our room (6). The rooms are very suited to what I expected to see in Venice. Maybe slightly dated but the gold and flower paintings just added to the ornately room. They won't be to everyone's taste but I think they were lovely!

The hotel is super basic but it has what you need- a clean and safe place to rest and wash. Just for some background the owner Maria stays in the building on the top floor.

As mentioned in other comments the host speaks little English but through gestures and her basics you can get by. She is super friendly and always working.

Breakfast is between 7-10am and you just call when ready for it. Nothing to rave about sadly but the hotchocolate was good! You got 2 cartoons of juice, 2 crossiants and some Melba toast as well as your hot drink. All prepacked but would be fine if it was purely energy and not enjoyment.

Towels and bath mat was changed daily and always kept nice and clean! There is a small hairdryer in the bathroom and a free safe in the room

The hotel is a little bit out the way of the main tourist areas but I wouldn't deem this a negative. We preferred it. St mark's Square is about a 20 mins walk but the ACTV (public boat transport) is about 7 mins away.

Also someone else had said about being back at 11pm which worried us. This isn't true. The door is locked at 11pm but you just buzz to get entry. She answers within seconds and has a camera to see who she is letting in. I don't know if they had a little miscommunication.

The main negative is the paper thin walls. We were aware every time someone went up and down the stairs or Maria and whoever else were on the move. Our room had the washing machine above it and god the noise! It was horrificly loud but only used between 11am-6pm that we heard. You were wary of the noise you made in your own room incase disturbing others. We could hear the conversation of our over the hall American neighbours daily!

Maria did try and whisper when in the hall but it was rather pointless.

Overall I think its worth what we paid! It was a great base, clean and safe and that is all that we needed. I would stay again and would recommend it but just arriving being realistic of what to expect for what is paid. We loved it and hope you do to if you visit.

Time social bar about 3 minutes walk away became our favourite drinks spot so would also recommend there!

On the plus side it is immaculately clean. Towels and bath mats changed daily. Maria has limited English and we had very little Italian but she was good at getting us to understand not to sit in St marks square for coffee as it was expensive lol. The heating went in the last 2 days we were there. There is a bakers a few yards up the 'alley' and a newsagents on the corner and a wine/ olive oil shop on the other. Off the beaten track mostly locals so really pretty abd unspoilt by tourism. Lots of little bars, an ice cream place and eateries very close. Wifi is free in your room the card by the bed gives you the password. Bad points no tea making facilities in the room. We were cold at night no extra blankets in the room. It was also noisy at night from the bars emptying and this is also a family home. Perhaps one of the worst things is you have to be back by 11pm so the doors could get locked. We panicked walking back incase we got lost but also people eat quite late and we were clock watching every evening. Breakfast is all pre packed 2 croissants, 2 packs of Melba toast, sometimes yoghurt, some jams and a butter, stick to coffee or hot chocolate tea is a disaster everywhere. It was however all that aside a great base, easy to get to the rialto bridge or st marks even walking there was easy. Busses close by. But walk different ways everyday to find new things. Fantastic area and like I said you get what you pay for. Don't forget €3 per person per night room tax collected on your last day in cash.

On arrival at the Alloggi Sardegna we were greeted by the owner Maria, she was a lovely lady who didn't speak English, but we got through to each other. The rooms were adequate for what we required and in a perfect location. Breakfast was delivered to your room in a morning which was enough to start the day, continental breakfast only. Venice was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed seeing all the sights. I would definitely pay for the skip the line into Doges Palace and other venues, it was very busy and we visited out of season. At the end of the stay there is a 3 euro charge per person, per day, some tax payment, which wasn't mentioned in the brochure. This hotel is comfortable and in an ideal place, i would stay here again without a doubt.
