Pensione Guerrato is a gem in a great location in Venice. Its central location adjacent to the Rialto Market and just steps from the Rialto allowing easy access to all of the major sights. The room was nicely sized by European standards, neat, and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. A simple breakfast is available to get a good start on the day. A great value in a great location.

Good location just off the market at Rialto bridge. If you lean out, you can see the canal from some of the rooms. The big breakfast was decent, though not much protein to speak of...typical European fare.

The beds were uncomfortable, even by European standards. The furnishings of the hotel were beautiful Good reminders of the culture of the city. It was fantastic to leave the windows open and listen to the sounds of the city until bedtime. After that, the closed windows keep out about 60% of the noise...not for the light sleeper.

The city is fantastic, but the locals are impatient. Don't get in their way on the vaparettos.

If there's a concert at the hall off St Mark's square (Virtuoso di Venezia), be sure to see it. We heard Vivaldi's Four Seasons. It was one of the best memories of our trip.

Excellent location and some of the friendliest people in Venice!! Pensione Guerrato is a gem. The front desk folks are very friendly and helpful. I traveled with my 23 y.o. nephew (his first European trip) and we gave ourselves a workout on the steps and bridges of Venice -- walking for hours and hours a day. The Pensione was so well located (near Rialto Bridge and just around the corner from the fish market) that we were able to return to our room for an hour in the late afternoons and put our feet up before going off on another adventure and in search of a Venetian dinner. The vaporetti stop is just a few steps away (and no lugging your baggage up and down steps to cross bridges, which was a plus). Very convenient! The breakfast was very yummy. Every morning you are greeted with the smells of the fresh baked fruit croissants -- delicious. There are cereals and yogurts to choose from as well. It was enough to fuel us for for a few hours. I completley understand why Rick Steves likes this property so much for his groups. It's clean, lovely and an excellent "home" in Venice.

My daughter and I were looking for a hotel that was reasonably priced and clean before and after our cruise. I found this little gem while reading Rick Steve's Venice tour book. The price was right and it was in an amazing location. If you got lost in Venice (which you will) all you need to do is go back to the Rialto bridge. Since they have opened up the new Vaporetto boarding point it is a 30 second walk away. The crowd at night was a little loud but we were so tired from the walking all day that we just fell asleep by the time our heads hit the pillows. My daughter was a little grossed out by the fish smell in the morning but by the time you go to bed at night it is gone. Staff was very friendly and helped to carry our luggage up to the room. The morning breakfast is served in a quaint little room and they provide coffee, juice, cereal, pastries and yogurt. We shared a bathroom but never once saw anyone else use the room. The first night before the cruise we had room number 9, which didn't have the best view. On the final night in Venice we had room 2 which looked out to the market and the canal. Venice is amazing to see!!! everyone should do it once in your life and at the Pensione Guerrato is a great place to stay. Thank you Roberto, Piero and everyone else who works there :)

Let me start by saying that we spent the first night of our holiday on the mainland in Mestre, which was a big mistake. Once we realized this, we spent a morning calling around and luckily the Pensione Guerrato had a 3 bedroom apartment available for most of the days we needed. The apartment is on the 3rd floor (and there is no lift), but it was about the same price as 2 reasonably priced hotel rooms and had a kitchen, bathroom, and dining room. The staff were really helpful and the location was fabulous - 1 minute walk to the fish market, fresh fruit/veg stalls, and the Rialto Mercado vaporetto stop. San Marco was a 15 minute walk away through lots of atmospheric alleys. On the last night we moved to another 2 BR 2 bath apartment about 5 minutes walk away run by the same people - it was recently renovated and very comfy and stylish. The only room for improvement was breakfast - just croissants, rolls, juice, coffee, cereal, and yogurt; not bad, but it got old after a couple days. Also, the clientele is mostly older American cruise ship passengers, but they didn't seem to mind our rambunctious kids, age 2 and 4.
