This Hotel has an official rating of 3* and that is about right for the facilities offered. We were disappointed by the room originally allocated, it was dark and the bathroom had a mouldy whiff about it (black on the bath / shower seal; also a hook over the bath for towels was loose, a general sit of lack of maintenance. Being British, we put up with it for 1 night, but the following morning when the bidet plug was inoperable (and was closed), I asked for a change of room. Things got better from that point, as the room change was accommodated for a larger and more airy, better maintained room. There is a fridge in each room but nothing for tea or coffee making. In all other respects the hotel is well run. The staff are excellent, polite and helpful. The hotel overall is very clean and kept beautifully cool - a joy to walk into when temperatures are 30+. We also booked not expecting breakfast, but every room now gets breakfast included, served on the fifth floor roof terrace. A decent selection of breakfast items, tea coffee and fresh fruit. On the other side on the same floor is an external terrace where drinks are served; the seats there are very comfortable for relaxing in. The biggest plus for this hotel is location. It is just off of Quattro Canti, the centre point of the historic old town. If you need to go further, it is a short walk to bus services (€1.40 each way to Mondello beach via the 101 and 806 bus - buy tickets in advance at a Tabaccheria shop with a big T sign outside, and validate your ticket on the first bus in each direction - 2 tickets in total). It was a great stay and we loved exploring Palermo from this base. Once again, the staff made it.
