Very informative well laid out displays in small charming space (ex-convent?) by passionate individual-make the subject fascinating. Film at start of visit as well as free booklet in English accompanying tickets rounded off a great experience. The wee shop was not overmerchandising (refreshing!) but might have benefited itself and visitors more if it had better postcards and or a greater range of non -italian names - for non italian visitors perhaps.

You can see the passion for history in this place.
Although small, the museum is filled with photograps and exhibits showing the works on re-discovering the ways papyrus was used.
There was also a docummentary playing in English, Italian and German about the history of the place and the historical community.
Worth seeing

I had read about this museum on trip advisor but it didn't appear on my to do list. We came across it quite by chance and I was pleasantly surprised. The guide book and notations were in English plus there was a dvd in English too. The subject of papyrus does seem dull but I enjoyed the visit and have left more informed.

In the museum there is a wonderful film in English that traces the history of papyrus and its production. It also shows the process that must take place to unlock the content of ancient scrolls...fascinating.

I loved seeing the instruments, brushes and the pots of ground color used for writing as well as the papyrus boats (small) used on Lake Chad to gather the plant. Visit time an hour or less.
