“fantastic find in the hills of Tuscany”
Reviewed 15 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed there with another couple and had the downstairs apartment with two bedrooms and bathrooms either side of the apartment and then a living area and kitchen in between. The access road is a little hairy with the last 200 metres on an untarmacked road. We were met by Ivano, one of the owners at Terantola station and we followed him to the site. This is a must as he suggested, we would not have found it otherwise. You can see it from the road, at the top of the hill and can't believe that you are staying there! When you get to the apartment, all the bumpiness of the road forgotten as the views are wonderful over the mountains and smaller villages below. The sunsets were beautiful every evening.

There is a swimming pool which is cleaned regularly and enough sun beds for all the people staying in the apartment. Pool towels were also offered.

There is another little cottage on the grounds as well as the upstairs apartment on our farmhouse. There is a bbq in the garden and also ironing facilities, washing machines and dryers. Wi-fi was intermittent but most of the time, good. Also there is very good air conditioning. Behind the back of the farmhouse are three hammocks in the shade

We loved this place - it was so quiet and serene with no noise from cars etc. A little piece of heaven! Owners, Ivano and Valentina are lovely people and will do all they can to make your holiday the best,

“Lovely views but challenging access”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in May 2016

This is a lovely place to stay, once you get there! The access road is long and narrow, dusty when it's dry and muddy when wet, so if you're a bit precious about your vehicle, this isn't the place for you. It also adds 10 minutes to every trip just getting to the main road at the bottom of the hill. Apart from that, however, Il Cipresso is a typical Tuscan abode with terracotta tiled floors and beamed ceilings. The furniture is traditional and reasonably comfy, although there's only one sofa in the living area and no floor rugs in the bedrooms. The lighting in the kitchen is also not great, and the range of pots and utensils suggests that some equipment might have been relocated to other apartments when they were leased as one rental to a large group.
We had the two bedroom apartment downstairs with no-one above us for the first few days then some mercifully quiet neighbours for the last few, but this might present a problem if you're unlucky enough to have a rowdy family upstairs.
The view, the grounds and the pool are lovely, and would be fabulous in the height of summer. We were there before the warmth but after the heating is supposed to be turned off (mid-April apparently). We were well looked after, however, by two very kind hosts.
I would recommend this property BUT with qualifications - it's perfect for a retreat but not so good as a base to make quick trips around the countryside.
