The main plus is that it is very close to the train station and to where most of the tours meet.

The hotel is old... and seems to be a prime business hotel. There were several conferences there while we stayed there.

Our room was basic.... and roomy. However, the 2 windows in our room... while they opened... we could not see outside. This for me is a big thumbs down. I like to see what the morning looks like when I wake up so I felt blind every morning until we walked outside.

The bed was rock hard and I think it was from the same era as when the David was sculpted.

The service was so-so. Not great, Not bad. They did their job but it seemed like we were putting them out by staying there. Up until the point where a piece of our laundry was mixed with another person's and then they were all over it to fix the problem. So, that was good. Thankfully.

However, if we are in Florence again... I wouldn't pick here to stay.

We should have known we were in for a great experience when our fellow train passenger saw the hotel reservation and kissed the paperwork!

We arrived at the train station from Munich and were pleased with the short walk- but more so we were thrilled when we got to our rooms and realized that we couldn't hear any of the traffic coming from the streets.

Our wine was chilled and waiting for us in spacious rooms (especially for Europeans standards). The staff was friendly and helped with tourist info as well as dinner suggestions.

Having breakfast while looking at the Duomo is only rivaled by drinks on the garden rooftop. Overall, a wonderful experience.

This hotel is very well located within walking distance of pretty much everything in Florence. The staff are helpful, the breakfast buffet includes eggs, meats, cheeses, fruit, and carbs, as well as made to order coffees. The view from the restaurant where you have breakfast is beautiful.

I was first given a quiet room (450's) which was dungeon-like. It had a small window only, with a view onto some drainpipes. I was horrified at the thought of having to stay there for 6 nights. Luckily they had a better room available, 215, which is closer to the front of the hotel and has bigger windows with a view onto the street. The street traffic noise starts to get somewhat loud in the morning starting around 7. Also, I noticed that the cleaning ladies seem to have their vacuum cleaners and supplies stored around my door, so when they start working, around 7 as well, it was noisy from the hall and from the street. Not great if you need to sleep in. But overall I liked the room, it was spacious and clean, the bathroom was also spacious and clean. The overhead shower was rather weak though. The handheld showerhead seemed stronger. The hairdryer was good. The cleaning ladies did a great job everyday.

The internet in my room did not work unfortunately, but there are two computers in the lobby that have free internet and a printer. The internet in the room is by cable.

Given the location, the stateliness of the hotel, the breakfast buffet, and the price, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: the lower numbered rooms on each floor are closer to the front of the hotel, with a view.

We stayed 8 nights in the Baglioni in Florence. The amenities & facilities were luxurious, including the spacious room, modern bathroom facilities, and free internet service. The main attraction was the full hot breakfast on the roof top with a view of the Duomo every morning. Also, it's hard to beat the location - across the street from the train station & tour bus stop and within a half mile of most attractions in Florence. Highly recommended.
