The Burchianti occupies a section of a venerable old palace, and it exudes a quiet beauty and charm. I am writing as a solo traveller whose single room was somewhat spartan in comparison with some of the larger rooms but which was nonetheless graced with bits of elegance. The ancient dresser clearly did not come from Ikea and the bed lighting was supplied by an elegant Florentine lamp. The room was simple but not cramped, with more than adequate closet and storage space, a comfortable bed and an excellently appointed en suite bathroom. The public areas have a graceful elegance both in the bedroom corridors, which are tastefully decorated, and the main reception/lounge/breakfast area. You'll be getting a continental breakfast that goes considerably beyond the ordinary: fresh fruit, a choice of several juices, croissants to die for, breakfast cakes and buns, a selection of cold cuts and morning salad, and outstanding cappuccinos freshly prepared by the smiling young man presiding over the morning meal.
The entire staff was pleasant and considerate, and Mario the owner has an outstanding selection of classical recordings that provides quiet background ground music for the guest, whether you're breakfasting or relaxing later in the lounge for an afternoon coffee.
This is not the first time I've stayed on Via del Giglio, a surprisingly quiet little street given the liveliness of the area. In terms of location it can't be beaten — an easy 5-to-10-minute walk from the railway station where many guests will be arriving; two minutes from the famed Medici chapels and a selection of excellent restaurants; 10 minutes from the Dumo; 15 minutes from the Uffizi galleries. Florence's historic centre is a haven for walkers — take advantage of the opportunity.

Had a fantastic stay at this typically Italian hotel . The rooms are amazing with beautiful frescoes on the walls and ceilings . The thing that stands out with this hotel is the service . Every member of staff was so helpful especially Guillia and Phillip. The reception and breakfast area are combined which worked well as there are not too many guests . We were able to sit and have endless tea and coffee in the reception for free after a hard days site seeing. It is a family owned hotel and we met the owner, an elderly lady, who visits most days .The beds were comfortable ,fresh towels each day and the breakfast was really good with lots of choice . We had a problem while we were there and the staff were absolutely fantastic at helping us to sort it out . I will definitely stay at this hotel again ,we got such a good deal too so it was great value for money . Must nt forget the location is great too . 5 mins from the station and walking distance to all the major sites

Perfect situation close to Duomo.
The rooms are really big and with nice typical decorations (paintings on the walls).
Strong hotel activity, so consequently it is worn.
Breakfast is ok : choice and correct quality.

First I have to say that the staff was excellent, especially Mario and Giulia. They were very nice, helpful, welcoming and took good care of us. There were some issues with the room that bothered me though. I think there shouldn't be decorative pillows or bedspread on the bed. They are not hygienic because they are not washed after every guest. There were also black hair on the bed that I didn't appreciate. The shower was difficult to use even though there were instructions. The system with the keys was a bit difficult. The frescos were of course beautiful.

You can have complimentary coffee and tea on the lobby. Unfortunately they don't make fresh coffee very often and when we had some coffee we could not drink it because it wasnt good anymore. Cappuccino was good though that we had on breakfast. The breakfast is very simple.

There was a problem with the check out because we left at night but there were no one at the reception. We had to call a taxi ourselves and leave because of our flight. In the future the receptionist should at least take the phone with him if he leaves the desk. We were apoligized afterwarsds and it all worked out well anyhow.

Great location!

Our family hotel room was huge with 2 four poster beds and a fresco on the ceiling dating back to the 1600s.
Shutters on the 3 windows ensured a lie in if needed and breakfast was served in the lovely 'salon'.
Hotel staff were extremely friendly and happy to chat with/advise you.
A really special place. Recommended.
