As the third of 3 rented apartments and the first one booked we weren't sure if we were pushing our luck, but it looks the way it appears, great.
On the Oltrano side of the Ponte Vecchio( 2minutes max) and just behind the Pitti Palace,( teenagers loved booking Segways for an hour from here) it would be hard to find a more central yet out of the main tourist crush place. All the details, maps, transport directions down to "asking for Fabrizio in the Osteria downstairs" as we were late, couldn't have been more helpful or more straight forward. Fabrizio by the way is a charming debonaire gentleman, worldly and artistic, ready to help with any advice and as fabulous as his pad!
The apartment is up 2 flights of good stairs and we had one person in a leg brace from skiing, though this was n't a problem there are more stairs inside.
The apartment looked much as it does in the photos, artistic rustic Italian loft( would make a brilliant studio), terra cotta floors, high ceilings and lovely tall french windows opening up to look over a private Maroccan courtyard. Its not plush but full of character and big with 2 loft bedrooms plus one other for the snorer!
Brilliant location, 5 minutes walk to 2 bridges and the Pitti and a swarm of truly inexpensive, local home cooked bistros and bars and cafes, 2 must inexpensive places (best food of the whole trip) were Lo Sprone, around the corner on Via della Sprone and Vini Vecchi Sapori (book)just left down the alley next to the Gucci museum- under 60 euros for 4 and quality to die for. Enjoy a real artists loft in the coolest part of town.
