The hotel is in a good location with just a 10 minute walk to the historic town of Gubbio and past a Roman Amphitheater. It’s also an easy to drive to other sights. The hotel decor is looking tired but the rooms are spotless. The shower wasn’t at all powerful and the walls were paper thin. The food was very tasty but could have been served a little warmer. The Staff were friendly and hardworking.

Went on a cheap five night break at the end of May. This is not a 4* hotel but it was adequate for our needs. The hotel is basic. There is a small area at the front of the hotel where there are approx. 8/10 sunbeds set out in a circle plus a few tables and chairs. There is no swimming pool or outdoor bar area. The gardens were quite overgrown and the overall impression of the outside area was 'scruffy'. There is a small seating area in reception (2 tables and chairs) and the bar is very small. The restaurant is downstairs and the food, overall, is acceptable. Beware, however, you may not get what you think you have ordered. My husband ordered a selection of cold meats and local bread and received three slices of salami and a slice of sponge cake.
The local area is great, with the walled town only 10/15mins walk away and enough to keep you busy for a couple of days. After that it can get a bit repetitive and the local taxis are very, very expensive. I would judge the hotel to be more of a 2* but the staff are exceptionally helpful. Don't let this review put you off. It is worth going to see Gubbio and you are not paying a fortune, so enjoy.

This was a birthday surprise. The hotel was rather dated needs a lot of updating. If it was not for the staff who went that extra mile, most of the reception staff and the waiters in the dining room and the chef who did cookery class,I feel it would not have been as enjoyable.

Room tip: If children at hotel no room is quiet

Sporting Gubbio is in a good location a short walk from the town, it is a bit tired but due for an overhaul in January 18. The room was spacious and comfortable. The food was very good, limited choice but well cooked and tasty, breakfast was very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The deal with Broadway travel was great, very good value including car hire from Rome, we had a two night add on in Rome, well worth doing.
Gubbio is a highlight of Umbria which is spectacular , would return in a flash

The location of the total is lovely, a short walk from Gubbio past the amphitheatre. The rooms are clean, yet basic. Some of the staff are delightful; the night porter (sorry I can't remember his name) and Daniella on reception.Others not so. I appreciate the restaurant staff work hard but we never felt they were especially welcoming particularly when we went in for a drink. There is nowhere to go to relax in the evening. The only bar consists of 2 bar stools in reception. A few simple changes could make such a difference. Play music in the restaurant to give it some atmosphere, open the bar in the evening rather than setting up for breakfast, hire more staff.... The wine tasting was an hour away with no transport provided but my biggest issue was that our room was left open after the housekeeper had been in and we were out all day. No real apology, we were just asked if anything had been taken. We weren't expecting too much given the price but small alterations could make a huge difference
