The Osteria Priori was highly Reccomeded by locals but did not live up to its billing. I am guessing the very reasonable prices may be a part of their recommendation. I had a truffle pasta that was good but not as good as the two previous nights at other places and a angliotti with beef that was good but needed a sauce. My wife had the pasta with white beef ragu that was good and the beef in red wine sauce was very tender but tasted like sauerbraten without the flavorful sauce. Service to get our food was quick but it took almost 30 minutes to get our check once a large party came in. In summary - good food - very good prices- nice decor upstairs - but not even close to some of the previous reviews that describe it as a foodie heaven.

We ate outside on the terrace. Tables are also available inside (and there is a good photograph on TA already). The building also houses a wine and olive oil shop, which seemed to be good stuff! We were well advised on the choice of a good red wine to accompany our dinner. The local grapes produce wines which (I think) are not widely known but very well worth sampling when in Perugia.
The food arrived slowly, as the menu warns it will, because apparently the kitchen is small. The service could not be faulted for advice and the warmth of welcome. A small and thankfully well behaved child at the next table was provided with paper and crayons for entertainment.
Everything we ate was very good. If I came to Perugia again I would stick to La Taverna and this restaurant and be blowed to the other places.

We had a wonderful lunch starting with a beautiful antipasto. Primo was a fantastic pasta with guanciale and zuccini and secondo was Chianina and ciccoria. Our waiter served us a wonderful local Sangiovese which was perfect. We will be back...!

You'll have to reserve or wait for a table, but it is definitely worth it. They have a small kitchen with foodies who know how to cook using seasonal ingredients. Everything we tried was worth cleaning the plate. Go if you can!

I recently dined at Osteria A Priori with my partner on the last night of our holiday in Italy. It is an unassuming little spot just off the main drag in Perugia but appearances can be deceiving: this was easily the best meal that we had over the entire holiday. The menu offers lots of traditional Umbrian fare (try the panzanella!) and much of the produce is bought from local artisan suppliers. The result is delicious, tasty food and we overheard many of the other diners complimenting the chef on their way out. I get the impression that the restaurant is family-owned and run and the atmosphere is bustling and informal. There is a note on the menu asking for patience as the kitchen is very small and, true enough, we were waiting a little while both to get served and to receive our food but it was worth the wait. Also, the menu is quite reasonably priced. Unfortunately we were in something of a rush and had to skip dessert but there is always a next time..
