Our room had a fantastic view and we had the small pool virtually to ourselves. The castle is fascinating and the gardens are beautifully maintained. The room we booked was a superior double and was very comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed breakfast in the fresh air. The standard of service was very high and the castle is a convenient base for exploring Perugia and the surrounding area and has ample parking.

Room Tip: Ask for a view

Dear Chinthurst18,
thanks for the wonderful impression you had about the castle. We are so pleased that our environment has been a good place to relax and enjoy the holiday time (that is always too short!). We hope you will stay with us again.

I mean honestly, who doesn’t want to stay in an 11th century castle?!?! Not only was the castle in beautiful shape, the views were to die for! And the location! To be so close to Perugia and enjoy its history, culture and nightlife (but not have to be right in the mix and hear it at night while trying to sleep), and a quick drive to Assisi, which if you’re that close you MUST visit, but the castle and staff were superb. The rooms were all unique and charming, the breakfasts and dinners were delicious, and did I mention the views! Plain and simple, Castello di Monterone is awesome! 5 Stars!

The views from the balcony are terrific and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was good but small choice, I was hoping that with a small choice that the menu would change day to day but it didn't. I enjoyed the feeling of staying in the castle but if I were to rebook, I would ask for a Room with a view as the view from my room was of the sky. Overall I did enjoy my stay and would stay again

Dear tomjsands,
thanks for your review! The castle is in located in a very panoramic place, not all the rooms permit a view, but the whole court and terraces are fully available for all our guests to be used as places for viewing, admiring, relaxing... Thanks again for the time spent with us, we would be so happy if you decide to come back and visit us again!

I wish I booked it for longer. Perfectly manicured gardens, and a 13th century Templar castle renovated to lodgings with all modern amenities. Pool was too cold in May to use. The restaurant on site was fantastic- try beef tartar and any pasta on the menu. Wine list is extensive. Breakfast can satisfy the pickiest customer. What I have noticed is the class of the staff- not sure how the current owner got them, but they are exceptionally well trained. Exceptional value, it is really worthwhile driving up the mountain.

Room Tip: All seem to be fantastic

We only stayed one night at Castillo di Monterone during a tour of Italy but wish we had stated longer. A wonderful stay with time to explore the castle (the battlements are well worth a visit), relax next to the pool and eat in the terrific restaurant. The food at both dinner and breakfast was first class. The room was everything we expected from staying in a castle, including the furnishings, but with real luxury too. An absolute must stay hotel. We will certainly hope to come back!
