I stayed at the hotel for like a week and i must say my stay had been very pleasant. Staff are friendly and attentive, room is always tidy with super clean bathroom :) surprisingly, even there's no air conditioner in the room it didnt feel hot inside the room during summer with the overhead fan. Also, the room is well equiped with fridge, microwave and hairdryer etc.

Hotel restaurant is always full even in the morning, what a pity I didnt have time to try it out.

When writting reviews I try to be honest & be in line with what you pay - don't expect 5 star service for 2 star money.

We stayed here for 5 days & the staff were very helpfull & I know the hotel may need a spruce up but overall it was ok.

Everything is on your door step - trams ( don't forget your free ticket from reception) & Geneva is expensive so just hunt around & you will find something a little cheaper.

The rooms were clean & the shower was tidy & the room was a fair size.

The buffet breakfast was ok & there was plenty for all.

So overall a clean ,tidy + freindley hotel and it is not 5 star but it is not 5 star money so be truthfull.

Only positive thing is location, but you have several better hotels in the area for the same price; all the rest is horrible: the room, service, check-in area, safety, TV set is from the 19th century, lights did not work, no parking, no business ctr, no computer facilities ... and breakfast is a joke !

The Hotel Calvy is VERY conveniently located .. right on the tram track, quite close (less than 15 mins by tram) from the Cornavin Railway Station, quite close (less than 10 min walk) from High Street Fashion shops, the lake is just about 10 to 15 mins by walk, (though possibly NOT 500 metres as the hotel proclaims) .. less than two minutes from MIGROS / COOP

It also has very friendly and helpful staff

The good points are just those

The room was large but under the eave so half of it was unusable. The beds are steel frame which moved around easily and were not anchored.
The breakfast is rather spartan. There is also a large dog who is very quiet and friendly but was a challenge for my child who is afraid of large dogs. Overall, common area cleanliness was a challenge, though perhaps not directly in the rooms or the restaurant.

I was given an enormous room (3 beds) on the top floor and despite the vast hoards of people I saw as I arrived, I was never disturbed in the room at night - though the walls are thin and you will hear nearby doors opening and closing... The man at the desk was very friendly and helpful - and gave accurate advice. The restaurant was fine and good value, though beakfast was a bit basic, but was all I needed. Location was good and the trams near the door were great. The free travel pass is a really excellent move - there is heaps to see in Geneva and the trams and buses will take you all over. The wi-fi worked well, though people expect that for free nowadays, I think.
