“Nice, modern and classy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2011

The name of the hotel sounds a little bit strange, but the hotel is really great!
They have very nice rooms with all you need. A great bed, good lightening, WLAN and Ethernet, TV with many international channel and a bathroom with a great shower.
The hotel is located just a few hundert meters from the main station. At night you can go around the corner for a last cup, or even go out nearby.
Breakfast is tipically swiss, with all you need to start your day. Coffee is great!
If you ever go to Lucerne go there.

Room Tip: I had 212 and found it great.

Pros: Attentive staff, parking downstairs in private garage (but you have ask in the lobby for access into the garage), great staff at breakfast (made to order eggs and waffles, excellent waffles) Great location very close by to train station.
Cons: Soap dispensers, Tiny showers, small beds, small room.

This is a 4-star hotel, the location is very good, just a few minutes from the central train station and all things you need. The room was clean but looked somehow shabby, the carpet in front of the bathroom was soaking wet, covered with a towel (when I entered the room). The attached restaurant serves average swiss-italian style food, the waiter forgot my secondo and when I asked about his whereabouts a waitress explained that he left for his lunchbreak.

The Hotel Continental Park was very convenient to the train station. It literally was just across a crosswalk directly from an exit off the side of the train station. This is a hotel if you don’t mind 2 to 3 star accommodations, by US standards. I would probably post this as a 2.5 star hotel if in the US. The beds are small, but comfortable. You are only given one pillow. The interior is dated. The shower was small and slippery and the stall did not hold in the water. So the bathroom flooded, each day. The curtain was of a thin flimsy material. There was no bath tub. There were no amenities at all in the room. There was a pump soap bottle that was ¼ full when we arrived, that was used for hand, hair and body. We had to run to the front desk to get it filled midway in the trip.

I know the hotel had amenities for some rooms, because we saw lotion, slippers, vanity kits in a box in the hallway. I went to the front desk to ask about them. The clerk asked if came to Lucerne frequently or if this would be a one time stay – which I am not sure why this would be relevant, but I told her that I do travel frequently. She said that some of the rooms get amenities and she would make sure amenities were placed in our room. It never happened. Which is what really separates hotels in classes – as I think some hotels might have the amenities in the room in a jiff. The fact that amenities never made it to our room made me wonder if she was just telling me what I wanted to hear.

We loved the breakfast – it was great and the cappuccino was amazing. Nothing negative at all about the breakfast.

This is a major tour group hotel. Massive tours would pour in and out each day. Thankfully, the tour groups all had their meals in a big room just off the elevators, but the lobby was frequently crowded with people waiting for their buses.

I would probably recommend this hotel with caveats. It is most definitely not a 4 star and it is more of a 2 star, perhaps a 3 star for some rooms. Because it is so close to the train station, you can hear the announcements for arrivals and departures in your room. The hotel’s 2 corners have bars. We were staying in room 603, which was facing the same side of the street as the front entrance, but was on the side of the hotel next to the train station and directly above a bar on the corner. Very loud until about 230 am in the morning. There are metal shudders which can be closed at night, but the a/c does not work that well, so leaving the window open provided fresh air. The other corner of the hotel is the one to be on – although it is over the restaurant attached to the hotel and its bar, it is also overlooking a lovely park. Perhaps a room on that side of the hotel, but high as possible would be optimal to minimize the noise.

I would call this hotel camping if you are used to 4 or 5 star hotels. Fun for a couple of days, but then time to move on to something more luxurious.

Stayed for 3 nights and was very satisfied. The room was stylishly designed and had great space for one person - and a desk! The internet access worked flawlessly and it was convenient close located to the train station (where I had to take the train every morning for a conference). Great breakfast, really friendly staff and fast room service (although I felt it was a bit too much pasta and pizza only on the menu).

The bed pillow was a bit too hard and too high, but I managed to get some sleep anyway. The road outside can be a bit noisy at times, even during night.
