We booked this hotel for 2 nights for 2 people.

As others have mentioned, this hotel is in a pretty good location, about a 15 minute walk from the train station for two people with one somewhat heavy carry-on bag, one full size suitcase at around 45 lbs, and a backpack with laptop, etc. Lucerne is a very walk-able city, so that description would probably fit most hotels in the area.

We arrived after the normal check-in time, and were able to move to our room quickly without any issues. The woman at the front desk was great, very courteous and answered any questions we had about the area with a smile.

The room was antiquated, but that wasn't an issue for us. As long as the bed is comfortable, the room is clean, and the room temperature isn't warm, we are happy, and this hotel satisfied those requirements for us. Note that this hotel does NOT have air conditioning, so if you're visiting in warmer months, that could be a problem. We just slept with the window slightly opened and it was perfect. Also, the size of the room was way bigger than what you normally expect in Europe. Note they don't have the modern key card door locks, so you'll have to lug around a key with an oversized key chain whenever you leave the room.

Breakfast was good, lots of variety including scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages, as well as pastries and other breads. Unlimited coffee is always a bonus, and we didn't have any trouble with their modern coffee machine (it served espresso, milk, hot chocolate, the works). The staff in the breakfast area wasn't as cheerful as the front desk, but that didn't affect my experience.

We had no issues with the WiFi, and the bathroom was large with a seemingly endless supply of hot water, which is always good. No shampoo/conditioner/lotion, but it did have a small bar of soap if I remember correctly. There weren't many free electrical plugs available, but we only needed one, which we used by the desk.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay in the beautiful city of Lucerne, and would consider staying here again should we return.

Dear Juan G

Thank you very much for your very interesting review. You pointed out our hotel very well. Concerning the key, this one you could have left at the reception any time :-) The reception is seated from 06:30 in the morning until 23:30 in the evening. Even for the night active people we have a night porter who is working during the night.
Furthermore we are not allowed by the government to change anything at our walls. Therefore we cannot add air-condition to your building. Maybe in the future we get new technologies and we can add it to our building.

I would be more than glad to welcome you again in our hotel. Until then have a good time.

Best regards from Lucerne

pros: friendly, helpful service, location, price, breakfast, size of rooms, cleanliness

cons: WIFI off & on, no air conditioning, soft mattresses

Overall a good value for the price and a pleasant stay. The spottiness of the WIFI was frustrating if one needs to work or send some mails. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Dear buzzingbee

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am glad that you have had over all a good stay with us.
Unfortunately we cannot install any air condition as of government rules. We are not allowed to change anything with our walls of the hotel. Did you contact the reception concerning the WiFi? As we can help you with the WiFi connection.

I will forward your replay concerning my staff to them. I am glad that they helped you with your needs.

I hope you arrived safely back home and maybe we can welcome you again in Lucerne.

Sunny regards

Cons: Below average breakfast included. Always out of scrambled eggs and usually out of sausage. The staff seemed in no hurry to refill anything and one person was surly and frankly quite rude. Guests were not made to feel welcome during the breakfast dining period. Need to work on the motion sensor light system. Kept waking us up in middle of the night.

Pros: The view from our room was great. The Manager/owner was great at check in. Very polite. Rooms were very basic but clean.

Room tip: Ask for a view and you are likely to get one.

Dear tastywords

Thank you for your feedback. I am surprised to read, that the breakfast personal was rude, as we got a lot of good feedbacks. Concerning the food, we try not to prepare too much food especially when the breakfast is nearly over. To safe the world and not to waste food. If there is not enough scrambled eggs just contact the breakfast staff and they will prepare your requested items on spot for you. So it is guaranteed we do not over produce food. Maybe we can welcome you another time in our hotel.

This 3-star budget hotel has a great location, which is within walking distance of the famous sights and numerous restaurants that line the Reuss River. Rooms are quite basic and comfortable, but nothing special. The room that my spouse and I were given (204) featured a pink door and a balcony that overlooked the street. According to other members of our tour group, our room was a bit larger than theirs.

The hotel provides a decent buffet breakfast replete with chilled Prosecco, which one can drink alone, or mix with orange juice to make mimosas. The sparkling white wine was a wonderful way to welcome Palm Sunday morning.

Dear CJW913

Thank you for your time to share your experience with us. As we are a budget hotel we offer all basic needs which a travel has. We can arrange special needs but those have to be sent in advance to the reception. For example cake in the room etc.
Thank you for highlighting our breakfast and our location. I hope to welcome you once again back in our hotel individual or once again with a group.

Best regards

We stayed in a very nice renovated room. It was a good size and had everything we needed. The only thing I would say we struggled with was the bathroom light. We never did quite figure it out. There was no light switch, it was automated if you entered it or walked by but sometimes it would go out while you were in there and be difficult to get back on. I would classify it as temperamental. Other than that, fantastic little hotel and good location. Also, the breakfast was included and quite nice, great selection of both hot and cold items. We enjoyed it for our first two mornings there. As our train left early the morning of our departure and we were going to miss breakfast, they packed us little to-go packs to take with us which was very nice.

Dear Rebecious

Thank you for your review and highlighting our breakfast buffet. Concerning the light in the toilette, I have to inform you that we experienced that a lot of people keep on the light even they have left the room. Therefore to be more ecological we installed those automatic switches.

However I think you could explore Lucerne well from our hotel. Looking forward to welcoming you another time in our hotel.

Best regards
