We came over from Cervinia (Italian side of Matterhorn and Theodul) and did about 40 piste-km during the day before going back. It was a totally sunny day, no wind, and perfectly prepared pistes.
Carving relaxed, but fast down the wide (red level) pistes, with a constant view of Matterhorn is just a perfect experience!
Lifts work well, everything is just as perfect as one would expect coming to Switzerland (and in some contrast to the Italian side Cervinia, which is also wonderful skiing, but just not as 101% perfect as only the Swiss can do).

We also came back on a partly cloudy, very windy day - that was a bit rough, and Matterhorn was covered by clouds all day. Going back to Cervinia via Klein Matterhorn (Matterhorn Glacier Paradise) was, well, probably the roughest weather experience I ever had, stormy, icy snow going back to Italy - but there is no other way back.

Zermatt has a lot of area for off piste, especially the trails closest to Matterhorn. Before you leave you need to feel the powder on a sunny day. It is the most blissful ski experience you can have. This ski park is vast stretching from Matterhorn to Bosentrift. From the top of the Gobba De Rollin to the bottom of the hill you have a long stretch of skiing without having to take a lift.I would definitely come back.

This is a huge resort that encompasses several previously separate ski areas, some of which are in Italy. Trails are a little less clearly marked than American ski resorts and the difficulty coloring system is also different, with blue denoting esay, red intermediate, and black difficult. There are virtually no black trails, and also almost no moguls. Moguls seem to be an American thing.

Also there are several gondolas, which are very nice and smooth, and the gondolas have intermediate stops so that you can go all the way from bottom to top in a gondola.

One day, whole resort (international) lift tickets were 92 CHF, which was 10 CHF more than non-international. Rental for basic boots skis and poles was 70 CHF for one day.

Visited this area on our stay to Cervinia
Very accessible but choose good weather. A hostile place in white out and can be difficulty navigate the ski area.
Brilliant novel expense skiing at 12000 feet plus . Highest glacier skiing in Europe and superb quality snow conditions , The lift system on the glacier is T bar and quite long uplift from base to top . There is also a chair uplift at the side of the glacier up into the Col and of course the Matterhorn Paradise Cable Car to the highest point to ski ( Can take some 40 mins or more to get up top ) BUT worth it
