The public areas of the hotel are very impressive and the views are stunning. We found the staff on reception and at breakfast very pleasant and efficient. The barman needs to learn from them after all a smile costs nothing. Our room was a huge disappointment. We booked a deluxe room with balcony and lake view direct with the hotel's own website and requested one on a high floor with a quiet location. We were given Room 511 which was just round the corner from the reception desk and level with the bar and restaurant terrace. As this terrace extended out everyone could look straight into our room and frequently did whilst taking photos. Guests were even calling and waving if we sat out so there was certainly a lack of privacy. The room itself was basic with very worn carpet and stains on the chairs. Definitely ready for refurbishment. The bathroom was dreadful. It was accessed by 2 broken steps through a very narrow doorway. It was a sliding door which was impossible to close as it was up against the mouldings on the wall. It left a gap directly showing the toilet into the room. All the fixtures are very dated, a very narrow bath with a fixed shower head which meant anyone tall would have extreme difficulty using it. Very poor toiletries with just a basic tube on the wall which apparently was shampoo, conditioner and body wash all in one. We did request a change of room on arrival but were told the hotel was full so it was not possible. All in all an extremely disappointing stay in a very overpriced room. Deluxe it was not!.

Room tip: Don't book room 511!

This is a historic, classy hotel with a great view. I'd recommend taking a taxi to and from the train station. It is walking distance to the castle and town right along a beautiful promanade. Enjoy the wine hour, relaxing views, friendly staff at the front desk, and superb breakfast.

Room tip: Try to get a room with a view. Heads-up: trains roll through in the middle of the night.

This is a four star hotel at the very top of its category. We stayed in a large room overlooking the lake and the mountains. The view was amazing. We enjoyed spending time on the balcony soaking in the tranquility of the surroundings.

The lake is directly at the front of the hotel, separated by a pedestrian walk with green bushes, trees and flowers, very pretty.

The hotel has a terrace where guests can have dinner or drinks, it was like a setting from an old stylish movie.

Breakfast could have more variety but we did not mind because there was enough on offer and quite tasty.

We could do with one or two more sockets in the room.

I've become a fan of this hotel, it is a place to go back to.

I should say the staff here is excellent trying to make good of your each request.

Rooms were pretty much simple. Bathrooms are nicely done up.

Getting a room with the lake view would be an excellent choice.

Hallway is equipped with motion sensor and is pretty dark when you come out of the room.

Breakfast here is not too bad serving the basics.
