This is the type of hotel I like. Nothing too much trouble for the very attentive staff. Could not fault any aspect of our stay. Excellent location. Super room ( junior suite ). We needed to stay an extra night - yes no problem. Breakfast amongst the really interesting Roman ruins.
The big test for any hotel is; would we stay here again?
The answer is a definite yes!

Very nice hotel in general, centrally located with friendly staff but rooms are noisy because of the location. In my case, there was a broken window in my room so it was always very noisy (i kept waking up) and cold during the night. I reported it but no one came to fix it in the following 3 days. My guess is that they already knew this before i checked in but failed to fix it.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location in the old town part of Maastricht. Our room was very clean and cheery, overlooking the square. The location was perfect with 5 Michelin-listed restaurants within several hundred feet of the hotel. Of interest are the Roman ruins in the basement dining room of the hotel and the historic, ancient church right next door (initially built in 300 - 400 AD). The hotel staff was excellent and very helpful. We were able to get the mid-week rate, including breakfast, which made the hotel a real bargain.

The Hotel Derler combines history with modern amenities. The basement restaurant is part museum part restaurant. The original ruins of the of the walled sanctuary of Maastricht from the Roman period, early 2nd til late 3rd century, can be viewed from your dining table. Very unique. The rooms are small though as are the bathrooms. As my husband said "you have to be athletic to stay here"! It's located right next to a old church and a great dining area. Good service.
