Great Three Night Stay in Amsterdam

My family and I had a wonderful three day stay at the Amstel Hotel. The property is perfectly located as it is not in the center of town, but rather in a more sedate area which is still close to the major attractions. Amsterdam can be quite chaotic with all the bicycle traffic. Staying in this wonderful location made it a perfect choice. We enjoyed the a la carte breakfast one morning as our room rate did not include the buffet breakfast - I wish it had!! The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was quite friendly and we will definitely stay at The Amstel again if our travels bring us back to Amsterdam.

We had a lovely afternoon tea at the lounge of this stunning hotel. The selection of savory and sweets together with tea pairing was amazing! Next to that, what made our whole experience even more memorable was the super attentive, friendly and professional staffs. They helped me to make the birthday surprise for my friend special. Thank you very much again Eva and your team for all your care and smiles:) tot volgende keer!

My wife and I returned to the US after an extended stay in the Netherlands and have had time to reflect on our trip. The highlight was the time we spent in the magnificent Amstel Intercontinental Hotel in Amsterdam. From the moment of our first contact with Julie at the front desk, we knew we were in for a treat. Every detail had been thought though, every member of their team was professional, polite and amazingly helpful. It was a throwback to a previous era, to a "Grand Tour" environment, where the comfort and experience of their guests was the top priority. Plus, we made an amazing discovery - by luck of the draw our timing was perfect - the Amstel Restaurant has a new chef, Rene Haak. His experience and culinary talent raises the Amstel to a true destination. We believe there will soon be a sprinkling of well deserved stars over his kitchen; Chef Haak and his team produced stunning creations equal to the best Michelin recognized chefs of France. In any event, our experience could not have been any better. Kudos to Peter (especially Peter!), David and Adrian of the concierge team who helped with many special requests, Ann and all of the servers of the fabulous breakfasts, Sanne and Julie at the front desk, Flamina in the bar and Floris De Vreede, F&B Manager. And, of course, our best to the captain of this fine ship, Rudolf van Dijk! We can't wait to return!

This was one of my favorite hotels in Amsterdam. It has lovely traditional decor. I loved sitting in the lounge one evening—it was dimly lit and a great place for a conversation with a significant other. The breakfast at the restaurant was a joy to experience. Such a lovely memory.

We stayed at this hotel 9 months ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, so it was a most easy choice to reserve it and we enjoyed it even more this time. We had an excellent stay and to my wife and I, the best part of the hotel is the staff. So polite and helpful and genuinely seemed so pleased to assist. Everyone we encountered from the breakfast, lunch and dinner was absolutely amazing. We thought the food was outstanding and the pastries in the morning were so fresh. We liked our room and appreciated the wonderful upgrade. I have been very loyal to the intercontinental and strongly believe that this loyalty has been rewarded. We have no complaints, on the contrary we were very impressed that our stay was even better than last time, which was superb. We would like to express our gratitude to the management for the wonderful staff which they have. We had a business dinner during one of the four nights we were there and the service was great. Well done!
