Overall the hotel was very nice and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Rooms are good size and modern. Hotel is in a quiet area and easily accessible to old city via the tram outside the hotel (6-10 minute ride). Bar area is nice, didn't make use of the roof top terrace though as it was pretty chilly at night. If you are adventurous there are restaurants nearby and one of them has an excellent breakfast offering (front desk can direct you by asking about the mushroom shaped restaurant). We found the food quality better and cheaper (breakfast at the hotel is 12,50) than the offering in the hotel + it is frequented by locals so it helps you to get immersed in the local culture.

Although the location of the hotel was fine, we had a major issue with our room being used by hotel staff whilst we were out for the day.

We returned on our second day to find a business card shoved in the card switch, meaning the TV was blaring when we walked in. There was also water spilled all over the desk, covering a lot of our possessions and muddy footprints on the bed! It was not merely the fact that the room was not cleaned properly, it was the issue that some of our property was damaged, and someone had clearly been using our room, which we had paid good money for, whilst we were out for the day. If we had returned to the room whilst someone had their feet up on the bed, watching our television and helping themselves to hot drinks in the room, this would have been a much more serious complaint. It is unacceptable that staff members, or whoever, felt it appropriate to use guest's rooms in such a way, and even more shocking that they couldn't even take the time to clean up after themselves.

This really put a bitter taste in our mouth and affected our city break. We complained, but were merely offered an upgrade next time we visit. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Dear Joe O O,

I’m very sorry to read your rather negative review on TripAdvisor, even after a letter of excuse by my Front Office Manager.

As mentioned in this earlier conversation, I can guarantee you that no member of staff did use your room during your absence. As you might have probably seen, the cleanliness is normally valued with excellent so I do highly apologize for the fact that we were not able to meet up with this standard.

Once again, my sincere apologies for the inconvenience suffered but I most definitely hope to have the pleasure showing you the real Ramada service anytime soon. In case you would still like to discuss this issue in person, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

With warm regards,

Alexander Kluit

This hotel is located about 20 minutes from the airport and has a shuttle bus that is free from the airport and costs 5EU per person to the airport. A tram line is 200 meters away that will take you downtown in about 15 minutes.

The hotel is tastefully decorated with relatively new furniture and the rooms are nice and clean. There are sliding glass doors on either side of the elevator area leading to the hallways so it's nice and quiet. The view from the roof top sitting area and the bar on the 17th floor are outstanding.

We didn't eat at the hotel as it was expensive, but we heard the food was good. There's are a couple of great places to eat two blocks down the street that are reasonably priced and the food is excellent.

The staff were very courteous and helpful. The manager on duty even helped us bring our luggage to the room. Our travelling companion had forgotten his glass case on one of the chairs in the lounge area and within minutes the staff had picked it up and had it waiting behind the front desk.

I would definitely stay here again.

Dear Kareem A,

Thank you for making our hotel part of your euro trip and for giving us this 4* review! It is indeed an enjoyable combination to be able to reside in peace and quiet but one short ride away to be in the middle of the center. We are glad we made the best of your experience with us and we look forward to welcome you again in Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre!

After arriving at the airport at 21.45 we found out that we had missed the last shuttle bus to the hotel which finishes at 21.40.
Long ques for official taxis ment we had no choice other than to get trains/trains or illegal taxis.
After arriving at the hotel wet and cold (the tram stop isn't as close to the hotel as they make out) they tried to give us a room with 2 single beds and told us there were no more double bed room available. As a couple celebrating our anniversary this wasn't ideal.
The reception manager then managed to find us a room with a double bed (an upgrade apparently). This was on the 3rd floor overlooking the coach park/services so if you would like a room with a view as per the online photos I would call the hotel ahead and try to sort this beforehand.
I say 'try' because unfortunately the hotel reception staff just ignore any request we make.. just off to try and find a local shop to get some tea bags as our requests to reception have fallen on deaf ears.
Also if you are arriving late take your own food as the hotel stops selling any kind of food at night and there is nowhere local you can visit to even get a snack. Very disappointed and poor standards for a 4 star hotel. Not a great start to our romantic weekend.

Dear Rob D,

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your special occasion and I am extremely sorry your expectations were not met. We could not have done much for the taxi situation but allow me please to comment that tram 13 does stop indeed a mere 150 meters outside the hotel so I can only assume there was a misunderstanding regarding which tram you should take or which stop to get off for Ramada. Also I would like to add that indeed our queen rooms are always subject to availability, in any other case there should be a complimentary upgrade and I am glad your situation was thus resolved.

Regarding our service, the duty manager of that night was immediately contacted and it was made clear that the items were asked to be sent in the room but due to a miscommunication they didn’t arrive. I sincerely apologize for this and I would like to do so in person as well, please feel free to contact me. Our front desk operates all day and night to make sure our guests ‘needs are always met, including providing menus of takeout companies which deliver to the hotel after room service has stopped but I can fully understand your position if there was no proper explanation of this. Once more I apologize and I sincerely hope you would give us another chance to bestow upon you our true Ramada hospitality.

Kind regards,

Anna Prujin
