I stayed here in 1997 for a couple weeks . Its in the Leidsaplain area of Amsterdam . Its just a few blocks from the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh . What's great about this hotel its got a full restaurant for your breakfast and dinner if you want . I recommend eating elsewhere for some good crepes or Italian restaurant just a couple blocks away . Out the door they have a half dozen pot coffee shops so you can get stoned Amsterdam style . You can bike to any place in Amsterdam in just 5 -- 15 minutes . This hotel is in a really great location if you want your stay here to be easy for a first timer or second or third . Its not a modern building . The building is about 130 years old . You will get no negative surprises here . Nice big elevator too . And last but not last us their Comfy beds too . The higher up your room is the better your view of Amsterdam . Bye and happy biking .

We hope to welcome you back in the near future!
Kind regards,

The hotel is perfectly located for access to the Museum Quarter and the Concertgebouw. The Cafe Americain is a gorgeous Art Deco space. Service was friendly and excellent. My room was a bit small and dimly-lit. Overall experience was very good.

Favorite hotel in Amsterdam to date. Extraordinary building which has been maintained in character with the original decor. While it looks very formal and has a wonderful atmosphere there is no snobbery or artifice. The hotel is well run and staff are very courteous and helpful. Very accommodating of special requests where they can support them. Location is fantastic for access to everything of interest in the City without being stuck in the centre. Relatively low noise for being in the theatre district and fantastci transport links.

Room Tip: If you land really lucky a small number of rooms have a little balcony, but really, all the rooms are a good size - in fact spacious by AMS standards!

We stayed for 5 nights - the room was beautiful (and we got upgraded!). The building itself is amazing, and it stands out as a unique building even among all the other amazing architecture in the area. The hotel's Grand Cafe was beautiful, and we spent many hours hanging out in there. The hotel is situated right near a fun bar area, and it is walkable to the big museums. Would definitely stay there again!
