We stayed here for 3 nights and were given a double room despite requesting a twin off booking .com.
Location is great
. And that's all. Our room was tiny with worn, mismatched furniture. A tv we couldn't see and the bathroom across the hall. We literally had to move the bed to get into it.
Breakfast was a joke..20 kids sat on 2 benches and no room for us to sit. No coffee back go the room even! . No basic amenities in room. No hairdryer, kettle etc. Nothing
Entire "hotel" grubby and worn.
On the plus side. Great location and chap on desk first day did look for a twin room for us. "Pack em in cheap " kinda hostel. Definitely like no hotel I have ever stayed in

I have just arrived back today after celebrating my 30th birthday with friends and stayed at Hotel Vijaya. There are pros and cons to this hotel which I will try to address.

The hotel was basic but for what we paid it cannot be complained about. There was absolutely no bed bugs as others seemed to report and our bedding/towels were changed daily. The hotel was kept clean.

The staff were very helpful and the location was very accessible to the Red Light District. We were able to pre order an airport taxi through the hotel for 5 people for €55.

The rooms were small and basic and I certainly wouldnt advise anyone with mobility issues to book here as there are a lot of steep steps and no disability access.

If it was for a social visit then I would definitely recommend the place but dont expect a 5 star hotel for the price you pay.

hotels bang in the center of Amsterdam can be hard to book due to the demand and this place is one like that is usually sold out. I booked way back and got lucky with the dates to get a really good deal - 50 euros a night. For a room with a private bathroom and overlooking the canal, in this location that is what a certain website would call a "jackpot".

Anyway the hotel is really close to the central station, less than 10 minutes walk and at the top end of Oudezijds Voorburgwall just off Zeedijk. Check in starts at 2pm.

Overall, pleased with the hotel booking, everything is close by and its ideal for a short stay over. Breakfast is also included, and there is wifi.

Rules. Once again Amsterdam and its rules! This place has some rules as well. No visitors allowed, no breakfast in room, do not touch fire alarm or throw things out the window (?!) and of course Amsterdam's favourite: the contradictory no smoking rule.

Also have to buzz to get in and leave key to get out so that one is not ideal if going outside for a quick cigarette.

Do not risk smoking in hotels in Amsterdam as their fire alarms are pretty smart and hotels reserve the right to kick guests out for smoking in the rooms.

If you can get this for under 60 a night its a pretty good deal.

Room Tip: hotel is above a bar, it can get loud but its in the red light district so enjoy it.

Reasonalbe price for mid december. Comfortable and clean. Only issue was we were on the 3rd floor with no lift so legs were like jelly by the time we reached our room. Nice food too. Price includes continental breakfast too.
