Incredible The Durgerdam

Review of De Durgerdam
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Apr 2024
The whole property is like stepping into a Vermeer painting. Rooms filled with subtle shades of green, peach, ochre, deep reds made our stay incredibly relaxing. Super comfy bed and pillows along with a lovely lounge chair and thoughtful lighting made us not want to depart. The shower was also amazing! The Durgerdam sits across from a lovely body of water and has a flower filled side yard that also backs up onto an incredible grassy marshland with a lovely bench for sitting. De Mark restaurant was impeccable. We had both breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was for only guests of the hotel which was nice. The chef prepared our breakfast using only the finest natural ingredients. We asked for yogurt and he made it fresh for us upon arrival and served it with fresh fruits, seeds and homemade granola! It was almost too lovely to eat. Dinner was a small dining experience filled with incredible dishes and flavors using local meats, cheeses, fish etc. Fine dining without the fine dining fuss. The wait staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Although a short drive from Amsterdam we had no problem with Uber or Taxi's. Don't miss this property on your next trip to Amsterdam!

A very elegantly decorated small hotel with lovely, friendly & knowledgeable staff.
We took advantage of a winter deal for 2 nights and it was lovely to have a full day to relax and take in the surrounding countryside by hiring electric bikes from the hotel. The food at the restaurant is lovely; although if you can’t eat (or don’t like fish or seafood) then you are limited in your choice esp for main courses (3 choices). …& watch out if you order water; still tap water = 8euro for 2 glasses - ooft!
The rooms are really beautifully decorated & designed; the beds & bedding are really comfortable; also included are a welcome drink, a yoga mat & dumbbells . Our room was not cleaned or the bed remade during our stay which was disappointing for a hotel of this calibre.
The included breakfast was very mean and the absolute minimum they cld provide - 1 small croissant & the meanest little pot of jam to share, a glass of fruit juice and a coffee! The amount of jam was funny it was so small! … & if you have another coffee with breakfast you’re charged for that too!
We really did enjoy our stay though, it’s beautiful, the surrounding area is stunning & it must be fabulous in the summer on the lake, and being so close to the city and yet such a different and relaxing vibe it’s a lovely addition to a trip to Amsterdam.

Dear Marple K,

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your experience with us. We are thrilled to read that you enjoyed our special lakeside hideaway, it sounds like a great time. How lovely that you hired the electric bikes, and were able to see the beautiful nature. Firstly, we are very sorry that your room was not cleaned or remade during the stay. We will immediately take this further and make sure that it will not happen again. Secondly, thank you for sharing your feedback regarding breakfast. Our Durgerdam breakfast, which consists of a croissant, coffee of choice and juice is included in the room rate and other dishes can indeed be added upon request. We are discussing your feedback with the team and we are currently working on changing the breakfast menu. Hope to pleasantly surprise you the next time you visit!

Kind regards,

De Durgerdam

Cozy and luxurious boutique hotel with an outstanding restaurant and staff. This was a perfect one night get away for us. From the welcome drink in the lounge to the delicious breakfast in the morning, everything was perfect. The staff were excellent and catered to all our requests. The meal was outstanding and recommended wine pairings were perfect. It's a beautiful spot on the water that is tucked away in an old fishing village. I would definitely recommend it and plan to book again.

We had a lovely few days between Christmas and NY. All the staff are amazing, super friendly and helpful. The food at De Mark also great. We wanted a restful few days of walks/bike rides, it was perfect. Our room, no.14, was perfect too, waterside views and everything you could possibly need. A beautiful bolt hole.

A very sweet place. Loved it. The staff, excellent resto and comfy, quiet room.
Unlike closeby Amsterdam city (15 mins) guests stay in a small town, overlooking the lake. Although it rained everyday, we looked forward to the warmth and comfort of this special property at the end of the day.

Room tip: The cost of going to Amsterdam (download the Bolt app) added to the room rate still represents good overall value. Dins & breakfast are 100%

Friends that live down the road from this quaint seaside village recommended staying at De Durgerdam. It was one of the nicest, coziest, cleanest boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We had room 13, a 2-room suite overlooking the private dock and ocean. Our suite boasted a dining table, sitting area next to wood burning stove, 2 bathrooms, 2 coffee/tea bars, 2 TVs, lots of closest space and a king-sized bed with linens that made you not want to get out of bed. (Down pillows were a little too overstuffed so maybe a flatter pillow option would be good). I have to say something about the shower… the rain shower was probably the best shower ever, I dream about that shower!
The service was terrific. And the food…. It was so fresh and delicious. The strawberry jam at breakfast with the fresh croissants and farmer’s butter was my favorite. (I could drink that jam!) wish they jarred and sold it. (Hint, hint).
The weather was blustery so being inside with all the cozy textiles, warm ambience, and wood burning fire made you want to camp-out inside all day.
They offer manual and electric bikes for guests at nominal fee. And every room is appointed with quality raincoats.
We will definitely be back!

Dear t5tango,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and we are glad to read that it was to your liking.

Your kind words warm our heart - and that is exactly what we do it for! The elegant design of the rooms is the work of the Amsterdam-based design studio Buro Belen, who have turned this 17th Century lakehouse into a space to offer exclusive heritage experience and comfortable luxury for a fantastic night's sleep. And the picture-perfect views... that is the magic of Durgerdam (no matter what weather it is)! We will share your kind words with our team in De Mark, thank you.

Looking forward to welcome you back!
