Nice surraundings but rude service

Review of De Durgerdam

Very rude and unfriendly service. If you don't like customers, you shouldn't apply for the tourism industry. Location and village are nice. We were planinning to reserve two weeks stay and try to feel atmosphere with drinks and get to know village by bikes but staf did not give us possibility for that.

lovely romantic hotel - very serene and peaceful - so quiet and comfortable with beautiful features and lovely staff. Fabulous restaurant De Mark just next door and cute , cost little library room - only 20 mins by Uber from airport and by a pretty lake - would definitely stay again!

- Overpriced overall
- no real /welcome' service
- asked for other pillows - no reaction/service
- Dinner was good
- were more people who would love to have a drink in the sun (finally the sun was shining) and wouldn't open their really nice terrace.
- breakfast good, but way to expensive!!! 40,- for breakfast of 31,- for scrambled egg, 30,- for a pancake !!!
- Tourist Tax ( nearly €40,- !!) Should be a few euros or maybe 12,- p.p max 9 what we could find online for Amsterdam)

Dear Maddy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your dinner with us. We are very grateful for your feedback, and we will definitely discuss this with the team. The terrace is so lovely, and we love to keep it open in the sun, but since it's so close to the water it gets too windy easily. Hopefully you can come back next time for the terrace.

Our breakfast has high-quality, locally sourced ingredients like Dutch grey shrimps and North Sea crab and we also serve very generous quantities. The price of the breakfast also includes coffee, tea and fresh, home made juices. We understand about the taxes and they have increased in Amsterdam in general (to 12,5% city wide), not just at our hotel.

Hopefully, looking forward to welcoming you back soon & that you enjoy it more next time!

The whole property is like stepping into a Vermeer painting. Rooms filled with subtle shades of green, peach, ochre, deep reds made our stay incredibly relaxing. Super comfy bed and pillows along with a lovely lounge chair and thoughtful lighting made us not want to depart. The shower was also amazing! The Durgerdam sits across from a lovely body of water and has a flower filled side yard that also backs up onto an incredible grassy marshland with a lovely bench for sitting. De Mark restaurant was impeccable. We had both breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was for only guests of the hotel which was nice. The chef prepared our breakfast using only the finest natural ingredients. We asked for yogurt and he made it fresh for us upon arrival and served it with fresh fruits, seeds and homemade granola! It was almost too lovely to eat. Dinner was a small dining experience filled with incredible dishes and flavors using local meats, cheeses, fish etc. Fine dining without the fine dining fuss. The wait staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Although a short drive from Amsterdam we had no problem with Uber or Taxi's. Don't miss this property on your next trip to Amsterdam!

Room tip: For travelers who don't want to be in the middle of Amsterdam but prefer a unique and lovely place close in the heart of a small village.

A very elegantly decorated small hotel with lovely, friendly & knowledgeable staff.
We took advantage of a winter deal for 2 nights and it was lovely to have a full day to relax and take in the surrounding countryside by hiring electric bikes from the hotel. The food at the restaurant is lovely; although if you can’t eat (or don’t like fish or seafood) then you are limited in your choice esp for main courses (3 choices). …& watch out if you order water; still tap water = 8euro for 2 glasses - ooft!
The rooms are really beautifully decorated & designed; the beds & bedding are really comfortable; also included are a welcome drink, a yoga mat & dumbbells . Our room was not cleaned or the bed remade during our stay which was disappointing for a hotel of this calibre.
The included breakfast was very mean and the absolute minimum they cld provide - 1 small croissant & the meanest little pot of jam to share, a glass of fruit juice and a coffee! The amount of jam was funny it was so small! … & if you have another coffee with breakfast you’re charged for that too!
We really did enjoy our stay though, it’s beautiful, the surrounding area is stunning & it must be fabulous in the summer on the lake, and being so close to the city and yet such a different and relaxing vibe it’s a lovely addition to a trip to Amsterdam.

Dear Marple K,

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your experience with us. We are thrilled to read that you enjoyed our special lakeside hideaway, it sounds like a great time. How lovely that you hired the electric bikes, and were able to see the beautiful nature. Firstly, we are very sorry that your room was not cleaned or remade during the stay. We will immediately take this further and make sure that it will not happen again. Secondly, thank you for sharing your feedback regarding breakfast. Our Durgerdam breakfast, which consists of a croissant, coffee of choice and juice is included in the room rate and other dishes can indeed be added upon request. We are discussing your feedback with the team and we are currently working on changing the breakfast menu. Hope to pleasantly surprise you the next time you visit!

Kind regards,

Cozy and luxurious boutique hotel with an outstanding restaurant and staff. This was a perfect one night get away for us. From the welcome drink in the lounge to the delicious breakfast in the morning, everything was perfect. The staff were excellent and catered to all our requests. The meal was outstanding and recommended wine pairings were perfect. It's a beautiful spot on the water that is tucked away in an old fishing village. I would definitely recommend it and plan to book again.

Dear Erin,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us - we appreciate your words a lot!

We are glad to read that you enjoyed our hotel De Durgerdam, it is the ideal hideaway to escape from the busy life in Amsterdam. The elegant interior is designed by the talented Amsterdam-based design studio Buro Belen, who did everything to create a space that offers comfortable luxury, a space to wind down, and a fantastic nigh's sleep. We will share your compliments with our team in restaurant De Mark, who is looking forward to welcome you back for another culinary experience. Hope to see you soon, Erin!
