We enjoyed our stay at La Boheme. The staff were so friendly and more helpful than most places I have stayed. The Hotel is a quaint boutique hotel not far away from everything. We walked to the dock where we hired a boat to take us around the canals. We walked to the Van Gogh museum. We walked to great restaurants nearby and even walked to the Dam Square from our hotel. The atmosphere is very cozy. It's a bit pricey, but we were very happy that we stayed there. The beds were comfortable, the t.v. worked well, the bathroom was clean. Breakfast buffet was yummy. It felt like we were staying with friends. And Mimi the cat was an added bonus! I would recommend the hotel.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. They helped me with travel etc and were very respectful.

The door is secured with a fob which makes it feel very safe and secure.I had a private room downstairs (shared bathroom with two other private rooms) and it was perfect.
The room was a single bed but had a sink, closet, safe, desk and tv. There are extra pillows/blanket and towels are cleaned daily. Breakfast was included and was a lovely spread with everything I needed - plus free coffee during the hours reception is open.

The hotel itself is incredibly central. It sits right in between the very touristy central areas of Amsterdam and on the other side you have the quieter, suburban areas which include the majority of big museums and parks, e.g. Vondelpark (5 minute walk from Hotel).

Really loved it here and would recommend to friends and family!

Room Tip: I prefer the private rooms which are basement level (single bed) but the basement level can get a bit cold (there are blankets!).

Had a nice stay. Compared to the rest of Europe you don't get much accomodation for your money in Amsterdam. For example for the same money as La Boheme we stayed in 4.5 stars in Berlin And 5 stars in Prague. That Is not the hotels fault tho. The good points about this hotel are. The location is fantastic. Right near a tram so you can get around the entire city easy without walking. Plenty of food coffeshops and cafes around. The breaky is good. It was relatively quite at night. The bed was comfy. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the small side. There is no air con just a fan. The stairs are a nightmare with heavy luggage. If you are old or frail this ones not for you. WIFI was good.

Absolutely beautiful hotel right in the centre of Amsterdam but without all the noise of the city, there is also free coffee, teas and pastries at the reception which is available for all guests. The staff are very helpful any questions we had were answered with ease and also make sure to ask them for the best companies to go with for bike tours and boat tours etc as more than likely they will have coupons for you

Amsterdam is busy and expensive for what you get. Coming from a stop over in Brugge, where I paid the same for a luxury b&b, of course, La Boheme was a disappointment. But let me be fair- it's Amsterdam.
Positives first:
Breakfast was very good. They will make you a simple but good cheese platter in the evening and you get a complimentary drink. The staff was very nice.
The rest:
My room was on the top, 4th floor, which I found out as I was checking in. Considering the horror those stairs were, the hotel needs to discuss the room location ahead of time. If you have any knee issues, you are older or afraid of tight spaces and heights, you will not be able to climb those steps(getting suitcases up there is pretty impossible too- i had a carryon). I also wondered how people would run downstairs in case of an emergency?Problem is, if I couldn't climb the stairs I'd be fresh out of luck as the hotel was fully booked. I'd wind up paying through the teeth for who knows what, again, considering Amsterdam is fully booked in June!
So, my advice is to ask them ahead of time. The first 2 flights of stairs are, by the way, the worst: the steps are very narrow and the staircase curves dangerously at the top. Hold on to those rails and only one person may pass!
Also, be very organized: if you forget something in your room, you will have to climb back to get it...
The room was IKEA basic: bed, bedding and especially pillows- cheap. Bathroom was clean but with slanting ceilings because I was "in the attic ". If you're tall, you may have issues. No frills.

I say, if you're over 40 or you are with small children and have a bit more money to splurge on a hotel, stay elsewhere with an elevator and a bit more room. You may even consider hotels slightly away from the center for more space. Public transport is very good and will get you anywhere. And there's Uber as well.

I hope this helps.

Dear Olga, thank you for the review and for warning our future guests about the stairs!
Indeed these are the tipical Amsterdam stairs and we cannot change that. This is why we indicate it on our website and decided to offer a free drink to the people who are located at our top floor. And yes if you let us know upfront that climbing stairs is a challenge, we can find a room at one of the lower floors for you. We're happy you enjoyed the breakfast and our good mood. Have a nice day!
