Absolute perfection

Absolutely phenomenal, we’ve only stayed at one other Waldorf Astoria, the Rome Cavaliery. The Amsterdam Waldorf Astoria is 1000 times nicer. We were upgraded two levels being diamond members. The room was very nice. What makes this hotel stand out are the employees. Every person treats you as if you were royally. Zero snobbish attitude as some fine hotels have. The concierge was wonderful and was able to book us 2 massage appointments with our right schedule, diamonds receive an additional 30 minutes! We mentioned we were here for a Scorpions concert and when we returned, an ice bucket of beer and a lovely card with a picture of Scorpions! Every door was opened for us, all sincere and genuine. Ah the breakfast, diamonds are able to order 2 separate items plus whatever nonalcoholic drinks. We had lovely eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, Belgian waffles, French toast all the americano’s we could drink along with fresh squeezed juices. The only bad is that our stay was the first 5 days of 18. Now no other room, service or breakfast looks good!! Sincerely thank you for an absolutely perfect stay. Please congratulate the team of employees for a job well done!

Upon our arrival we were shown a suite that wasn’t what we had reserved. Initially, we were told that there were no upgrades available. When we complained somewhat forcefully, the hotel management arranged for us to have a truly extraordinary suite — the Van Loon suite. From that point on, the stay was extremely pleasurable. Great breakfasts, helpful and friendly staff, etc. The hotel is in a great part of Amsterdam, and is probably the best location in the city.

Stayed here for an overnight stay in December before connecting to our ongoing flight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.. The hotel is ideally located in central amsterdam close to all of the sights and on a canal. Ask for a canal view room. Rooms were immaculate and well appointed. Bathrooms were very clean. The restaurant was very nice as well where we had coffee and breakfast. They offer you a scent to choose for your room which for aroma afficianado like me was very impressive. Probably the best hotel in Amsterdam

I just completed a 4 night stay at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam. My wife and I have stayed at a number of Hilton luxury hotels over the last couple of years, primarily Conrad and Waldorf hotels and resorts. This was the best hotel stay we’ve ever had. This is the third Waldorf property that we’ve stayed at so far. Hence, I already had high expectations of the service based on our prior experiences at Waldorf Chicago and Waldorf Cancun. However, the staff at this hotel took it to another level. The service is impeccable. My wife and I enjoyed our interaction with each and every staff member; they actually make you genuinely feel like they are happy to provide service and are personally invested in you having an amazing stay. The hype respecting this hotel is real. I’m so glad I extended my stay in Amsterdam once I saw that standard room availability was open. From the bellman, checkin personnel, staff in the restaurant to the wonderful Dutch server during our afternoon tea, we were blown away by the level of service. My wife and I agree that this property sets a new standard for luxury; and we’re so thankful that on the last day of our stay management extended our free breakfast Diamond benefits to in-room service because we had an early departure time before the restaurant opened. I’m so thankful to have stayed here and feel like this is the best city hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I could go on and on about the history of the hotel and the wonderful garden. However, you can easily find all that information on your own. What the pictures and articles may not convey however is how this excellent customer service enhances your experience and makes this hotel a destination all on its own.

Room tip: Contrary to some on online reviews, we were told the Diamond breakfast benefit does not extend to in-room service.

What a lovely hotel, staff are very friendly, very smiley and very well trained, we chose the smell of our room how it will be for the whole stay, I even liked 2 smells so they made it in different nights, the concierge was very helpful, the breakfast was next level.

The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is a top notch hotel (as you might expect for 800 Euro and up per night!). My husband and I stayed 3 nights in May to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we felt that every aspect of our stay was 5-star. Here are a few of our personal experiences that we felt were noteworthy:

1) Arrival: we arrived early in the morning before check in (I think about 11 am) and the staff was happy to see us (not at all annoyed that we were too early) and they made us immediately feel welcomed and valued. We knew our room wouldn't be ready, but we were so jet-lagged we didn't want to go walk around the city, so they suggested we sit in the lobby area and have a celebration drink (complementary).

2) The Champagne - their 'house' champagne, as they introduced it, was extraordinary. It is listed at 25 Euro per glass, but they gave us a free glass due to our fabulous anniversary. The champagne was so tasty that I must recommend that you treat yourself to a glass at least once during your stay. Naturally if you can finagle a free glass - that's even better (if you are watching your budget, which you may not be if you are a WA frequent customer).

3) The beds - now, I know we were both exhausted from trans-Atlantic travel, but the WA Amsterdam beds deserve their own special mention - they were THAT comfortable. And the pillows were really good too.

4) The spa - we both got massages at the spa and they were fantastic. I went with a relaxing massage while my husband asked for a deep tissue massage. The pool/steam room/sauna was great too - and you can go 24 hours a day - someone from staff will just open up the spa and turn on all the lights -- which is pretty cool!

We also borrowed bikes to ride around the city, had drinks at the Vault, and ate a delicious breakfast in the dining room. We did not try the Michelin star restaurant (Spectrum) so I can't comment on that other than it looked very fancy.

Overall - the staff was so nice and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a special hotel in the center of the city - WA was perfect.
