I was so impressed, we turned up and the area didnt look great, actually it was me being a snob it was perfectly good with nice bars only a short distace away. The room was split in two, bedroom and living space. Breakfast provided in the room, could choose to do what you wanted with goods provided. A cake / snack left every afternoon really nice touch we were not expecting. Really friendly and welcoming host who left us to our own devices whilst there. Price was right. Generally nice a clean. Overlooks a squat, this made me feel very nervous, my fear was misplaced there was no trouble and it looked very established. Stairs leading up to room steep, as is common in many properties in the city. If i retuned to Amsterdam again i would stay here without looking anywhere else - something i do not often do when on my travels.,

If you would like to leasrn what personal service is make sure you visit Rudy. Rudy is a great host eagar to help in any way he can. I am not sure he wants me to tell this but he even did our laundry for us!! So the hosts are great and so ins the location; very central, few block from the light district and the royal place, public transportation is just around the corner. Finally the rooms are very nice, clean and spacious, furnished in good taste and very functional. I can not wait for my next visit to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw (I think he has 3) were very nice.

We stayed there for 2 nights in early June and loved it.
The place is easy to find but you wouldn't know it from the street as it is just a door between one of Ansterdam's many smoking cafes and a mobile phone shop.
The owner wasnt there to meet us but there was a note left on the door stating that the key was with the gents in the phone shop. This was fine and we were shown to our room. Small but clean and a small area to make breakfast with kettle and fridge. The fridge was stocked with breakfast food (ham, bread cheese and juice etc) TV didnt have a good reception but we were not there to watch TV !!!
Perfect quiet location about 600 yards from Dam square.
If you are looking for a "please yourself" B&B then please consider this one as we found it excellent value for money. 220 euros for 2 nights.

We had a very friendly welcome from Rudy. The room was immaculate and had a very personal touch. Breakfast was great! We also found something tasty everyday we got home, like some cake or some fruit. Very thoughtful and considerate indeed.

It´s very centrally located and still very calm at night. We highly recommend Palace B&B!
