My wife and I stayed at the Palace B&B run by Rudy from the 16th to 19th September. Like all other reviewers our experience was also very pleasant.

Making the booking via email was very straight forward and did not require any payment at the time of booking. Before arriving I had had a look at the street view of the place on Google maps, hence was not shocked to see the surrounding building full of graffiti !! Other reviewers had also mentioned the same but said the place was safe. This is true, like rest of Amsterdam Palace B&B is situated in a safe neighbourhood moreover the location of the B&B is ideal to see Amsterdam by foot with a attractions within walking distance.

On arrival we were very warmly greeted by Rudy and his staff. We were given a small room on the second. The staircase was extremely narrow and steep, apparently all house in Amsterdam have stair like this. For us this was not a problem. The Room itself was very small but was very tastefully done up, keeping in mind all needs and wants of a traveller. The room had a small sitting area, TV, Coffee maker, kettle, Microwave and a fully stocked fridge. All necessary items were provided in advance for breakfast and were refreshed each day. Every evening a nice snack was place in our room, and was a good surprise when we got back each evening. It’s something very small but goes a long way in customer satisfaction.

On one of the days we got a chance of seeing the second room that the B&B offers. Now this room is a completely different ball game!!! It’s more in lines of a very well furnished apartment with a big bed room and an even bigger living room that has a street view. Unfortunately this room was already occupied when we arrived.

On our last night as we were leaving early the next morning Rudy was nice enough to book us a cab for the airport, this was convenient and cost efficient as we were travelling with a lot of luggage.

Overall our stay at Palace B&B was pleasant; we would definitely recommend this place to our friends. The only negative during our stay was the bed, unfortunately it was not comfortable.

I was so impressed, we turned up and the area didnt look great, actually it was me being a snob it was perfectly good with nice bars only a short distace away. The room was split in two, bedroom and living space. Breakfast provided in the room, could choose to do what you wanted with goods provided. A cake / snack left every afternoon really nice touch we were not expecting. Really friendly and welcoming host who left us to our own devices whilst there. Price was right. Generally nice a clean. Overlooks a squat, this made me feel very nervous, my fear was misplaced there was no trouble and it looked very established. Stairs leading up to room steep, as is common in many properties in the city. If i retuned to Amsterdam again i would stay here without looking anywhere else - something i do not often do when on my travels.,

If you would like to leasrn what personal service is make sure you visit Rudy. Rudy is a great host eagar to help in any way he can. I am not sure he wants me to tell this but he even did our laundry for us!! So the hosts are great and so ins the location; very central, few block from the light district and the royal place, public transportation is just around the corner. Finally the rooms are very nice, clean and spacious, furnished in good taste and very functional. I can not wait for my next visit to Amsterdam.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw (I think he has 3) were very nice.

We stayed there for 2 nights in early June and loved it.
The place is easy to find but you wouldn't know it from the street as it is just a door between one of Ansterdam's many smoking cafes and a mobile phone shop.
The owner wasnt there to meet us but there was a note left on the door stating that the key was with the gents in the phone shop. This was fine and we were shown to our room. Small but clean and a small area to make breakfast with kettle and fridge. The fridge was stocked with breakfast food (ham, bread cheese and juice etc) TV didnt have a good reception but we were not there to watch TV !!!
Perfect quiet location about 600 yards from Dam square.
If you are looking for a "please yourself" B&B then please consider this one as we found it excellent value for money. 220 euros for 2 nights.
