Location of the B&B is excellent. Easy walking distance to most of the sights. Located only a couple blocks from Dam Square with most of the other sights within 10-15 minute walk. Also lots of bars and restaurants close by.

The room was a decent size with anything that you would need. Everything was clean and well organized. There is a fridge stocked with milk, OJ, coffee, cheese, ham, etc. as well as a microwave. Free wifi worked well.

This place is not a B&B in a traditional sense, Breakfast is provided each morning outside your door by the hosts. It included a variety of local pastries, breads and other local goods. The food provided was excellent and very extensive and much more than just breakfast. We were able to pack some food for snacks and lunches for during the day.

Hosts were extremely helpful and friendly, They were available for any questions or anything you may need for your stay.

One work of caution, it that the stairs are very steep going to the rooms. Not an issue for us, but may be for some.

I would highly recommend staying here. The room rates are very reasonable for the room, breakfast and service provided.

After numerous times I've been to Amsterdam for work and stayed at hotels (including the best ones !) I've decided to try the B&B option we always prefer with family vacations... one definite conclusion ? I really regret not doing that before !...

Amsterdam is not a big city, choosing the right location would allow you to explore the city easily by foot (or bike if you like to try local vibe), the palace B&B is situated at Spuistraat center, about 2 miniutes walking from DAM square and Kalverstraat (the main shopping street) really the best start point to explore Amsterdam (-:

I have stayed at the B&B 6 nights, and enjoyed all the advantages it has to offer in comparison to any hotel room - the suite is spacious with cosy design, great & comfortable bed (arranged daily), it is well equipped with any kitchen tool you may need (small fridge, coffee maker, percolator, microwave, toaster etc) and breakfast is great - most fridge products (cheese, ham, juice, milk, jam, butter etc) and dry items (cereals, coffee & tea items) are actually there for you all time, while fresh bread types, pastries and fruits are daily supplied hanging out your door with that fresh scent of bakery to complete perfect breakfast !

As said all interesting spots - city neighborhoods, famous canals, scenic view spots, museums, markets, kalverstraat shopping center etc, as well with night activity - restaurants, pubs, leidesplain area, rembrandtplain area, red lights district etc. are all within walking distance (all trams are near by as well !) so having that option of small spacious flat (instead of hotel room) to get some coffee brake, light meal or even unload some shopping or get some rest near by is simply huge advantage !

Rudy & Pia are great hosts, doing atmost to follow your preferences, simply let you feel at home, away from home (-: ... the charming little garden out of your window and Berny the cat just add to that warm feeling !!

Cheers friends, see you next time !

One important note - the staircase is really steep, Rudy would surely assist you with luggage but in case of any personal difficulty that issue has to be considered !

I stayed with my family in the suite...it was great!!!
The room was very spacious and luxurious, with all amenities you need: fridge, toaster, coffee maker, megatron and much more.
The breakfast was very delicious, with many types of fresh bread, croissant, cakes, fruit, milk, orange juice, ham, cheese, ecc ...every morning a different breakfast!!!!
There was free wifi in the room (and very fast).
The B&B is located close to Dam Square and to most important city attractions.
I stayed in several hotels in Amsterdam (such as Nh, Best Western, Holiday Inn), but
I enjoyed my stay more than any other!
The hosts Rudy and Pia were very kind with us!
Recommended!

You'll find this a great location to explore Amsterdam. It is centrally located and we walked everywhere. I think this is the best way to get a feel for the city. We were there for 4 nights and appreciated that we could get and go and not try to figure out which bus to get on. We were in the Suite on the third floor. Like all stairs in Amsterdam, these are steep to say the least. If you think you'll have issues with the stairs they do have rooms on the second floor as well. The room was large with a separate sleeping and den area. We thought it was well kept and comfortable. As mentioned in many post your breakfast will be hanging on the door in the morning. Typically fresh breads/pastries. The fridge will be stocked with meats and cheese. There was plenty to have breakfast and then make a couple of sandwiches so we didn't have to buy lunch. The second morning they had hard boiled eggs. I sent a thank you note for the eggs and we had eggs as part of our breakfast for the rest of our stay which I thought was nice. It was overcast when we stayed. I send a note to see where to buy umbrellas and instead they left two umbrellas outside the door. Again, very thoughtful.

There are a number of restaurants located nice and close. We went to one on the same street about 150 meters up the street called Humphrey's. Mixed bag of reviews on tripadvisor but we thought is good and an excellent value. We also realized that walking to Dam Square going down the road with the big white memorial on your left was a good place to find restaurants. There is a grocery store called Albert Heijn, referred to as A&H, very close.

Not 5 rating for one reason. The neighborhood is under construction. You'll see a lot of graffiti and buildings across the street in disrepair. We thought it was just fine, but if you're looking for a place that you can look out the window and see the canals or a nice view of the houses across the street, this is not the place for you. In summary the only reason this isn't a 5 has nothing to do with the accommodations themselves or the host, it's all about the neighborhood. When construction is done if should be lovely.

Room Tip: stay on second floor if you don't like going up and down steep steps. I think the count was 35 steps to our room on the third floor.
