The hotel looks great online and it is very new and stylish however a few things let it down.

Rooms are large and well appointed. Good choice of tv channels
The hotel is clean and modern and nicely decorated.
The food was good when I ate in the restaurant.

The breakfast needs improvement. It was almost impossible to get eggs or pancakes. There were never any left and as soon as some fresh ones were cooked, the amount they put out was only enough for a few people so they went straight away. They didn’t have anyone constantly cooking eggs like at most good hotels.
The gym only opens at 7 so you can’t get in a workout before work. This really irritated me and my colleagues. We asked at reception but they refused to open it even though it wasn’t manned. Also the aircon in the gym was never on so it was unbearable if you were running on the treadmill.
One of the waiters was quite rude to my colleagues when we were trying to order drinks on the terrace. We asked to see a drinks menu and he wanted to take our order rather than show us the menu as he told us he couldn’t be bothered getting it.

Overall there isn’t great choice in Enschede so it’s the nicest hotel there and therefore I would stay again.

Very stylish hotel. Lobby was a piece of art. Rooms were big with big windows and bathroom was like small bath. There was also a small real spa with pool on the 12th floor. Breakfast was 5/5. Very, very good. Polite staff. Only con was the location approx 2 km from city center. There was a buss stop on the opposite side of the street and bus trip took less then 10 minutes. Taxi was about 10 euros.

We were there to relax with the wellness possibility of this hotel.
The biggest surpris was the food in the restaurant, everything was fresh homemade food and even thé famous “van der valk appelmoes “ was homemade and really delicious
Compliments to the head chef.

A good experience in this Van Der Valk hotel. Our room was on the 10th floor (superior), The decor is stark, rather dull. The big picture on the side wall would have been better placed on the long wall although the TV is on one side there was plenty of space. The other facilities were nice.
The gym, swimming pool and wellness area are well maintained and clean. Soap in the wellness area was missing but fresh fruit and water was available. The sauna had a spectacular view of the city from the 12th floor. Cleaning fluid in the gym would be useful. Water and towels are available

We ate in the restaurant twice. Both dinners were excellent and the staff and service good. Breakfast was ample and good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 9th and 10th floors

My husband and I stayed in October for 4 days. Whilst our Superior room was spacious, we didn't have a luggage rack(even though we requested one) so ended up with our suit case on the sofa plus no kettle just a coffee machine with instructions in Dutch(we're from the UK) and glasses not mugs for hot beverages. Finally our toilet(seperate from the bathroom) was not cleaned for 2 days out of our 4 day stay. Whilst I raised this with Reception little was done to correct the issues. Finally the running machine in the SPA was located above our room- very noisey until 11pm!! Will not be staying the this hotel again.

Room Tip: Superior rooms located just below SPA so beware of noise until 11pm!
