Good stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Sept 2018via mobile
We stayed here one night and liked it. The location is good, not far away from the main town, where the restaurants and boats for hire are. Rooms have a good size and all was clean and bed comfy. It was also very quiet at night. Breakfast the next morning was good. Choices of buns and bread, juices and cheese and meats. Eggs are made to order. We would stay here again. Nice experience and price was ok.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is immaculate and the staff is very friendly and helpful. My room opened up to a deck beside a canal which was a lovely place to enjoy my morning coffee and evening glass of wine.

While the hotel is located approximately 3.8 km from the Village centre, it’s a pretty and easy bike ride into the Village. I rented a bike both days I was there and the bike made it very easy to get around. The area surrounding the hotel is beautiful and I was glad I chose this location rather than staying in the Village centre.

My only complaint and the reason for only 4 stars was that the air in my room didn’t work any of the 3 nights I stayed which made for a too warm room for sleeping no. Staff tried to remedy the situation but it would work for a few hours and then break down. The room doesn’t have any windows that open so the choice was no sleep in an overly warm room or take your chances with leaving the sliding door to the deck open.

The food in the restaurant is pretty much on par with the food I had at other restaurants in the Village: okay but not a foodie paradise. The restaurant itself is very pretty with a lovely deck.

We had a drink on the terrace and then dinner in the restaurant, it was great. Friendly staff, good food, not expensive. It is in a more quiet part of Giethoorn, surrounded by beautiful nature. We will defenitely go there again.

From the welcoming drink on the terrace to the farewell stroopwaffles to eat on the train, this quaint hotel and restaurant kept serving up unexpected pleasures.
Traveling with another couple, we booked last-minute rooms the evening before arrival. We were surprised with a 'suite' consisting of two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a sitting room/kitchen. The beds and pillows were comfortable and everything was very clean. There was an excellent breakfast buffet served in the sunny dining room overlooking the terrace and garden. We opted to have our dinner in the hotel restaurant and weren't disappointed. The service and the meal were both wonderful.
We stayed in the Netherlands for almost a month, roaming from one hotel to another. This hotel, its friendly, helpful people and its service were the highlight of the month. The owner even drove us to the station so that we didn't miss our train by waiting for the bus.

We stopped here just for a drink - it was very pleasant and comfortable sitting on the terrace area.
The service was very good. Would definitely return if in the area again.
Nothing more to add even though TA wants me to write more....
