On a nice day the terrace wasn't open so we had to ask the personnel specifically to open so it would be possible to sit outside.
Also it took really long time for someone to take/bring our orders. Snacks on the menu had wrong price than it was on the bill.
Though the terrace surroundings on the couches seems really nice

Rooms clean and simple did not expect anything so that is ok. Welcoming staff, noting in the minibar no drinks. Bathroom clean over all ok. The big minus for this hotel yes a very big minus is the WIFI.
There slowest WIFI I have ever had at any hotel I have stayed at.
Trying to get some work done. Downloading PDF documents and PPT documents. (2mb it took more then 20 minutes) Was told to restart computer and log on the WIFI but nothing just as slow. Reading the other reviews I am not the only one that has had this issue. So if you are on business find another hotel if you are on vacation and the WIFI does not matter to you this hotel is ok.

Great hotel, very convenient for zoo and Rotterdam Airport.

Room was spotless and staff friendly and helpful.

Lovely spacious atrium like area on ground floor making it light and airy. Loved the bar and restaurant area!

Hotel overlooking the parking lot of the Zoo, which means it's on the outskirts of Rotterdam. Big room, which has a small bathroom in comparison to the size of the room. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was plentiful, but no variation for people staying longer. Restaurantmanager Mr. Said is the greatest asset of the hotel. He knows exactly to create a perfect atmosphere and is the perfect host!Would go back just for him.

For the past five months I have been staying in Rotterdam once a week, visiting several hotels. Although not ideally located for me, the vdValk has been one of the better hotels. Spacy rooms, decent beds, a good restaurant with kind staff, it certainly does the job for a pleasant short stop.
