A work colleague and I visited La Chaloupe d'or in January this year.
To begin with it was just a casual business lunch, but we were on the search for a venue in which another colleague could host a dinner.
We enquired with our helpful waiter whether La Chaloupe d'or offered event space and indeed they did. We were shown to a spacious first floor dining area which featured its own bar. This space was perfect and we looked forward to recommending it to the colleague in question.
We were given the restaurant's telephone number as well as an email address of someone at La Chaloupe d'or who would be able assist us in furthering our enquiry.
Having returned to the UK, several attempts were made to contact La Chaloupe d'or via email to progress this new business lead - at no point was a reply received.
Our event would have resulted in over 50 diners enjoying the first floor dining room of La Chaloupe d'or so in desperation to make our booking, attempts were made to phone the restaurant: Never was a telephone call answered.
After many frustrating weeks, the pursuit of La Chaloupe d'or was aborted and instead our event with over 50 diners will take place at La Brouette (also in the square) before the end of June: Tough luck La Chaloupe D'or, it's your fault you missed out.
Their mussels maybe very good, but neglecting such a hot and profitable business lead is unforgivable. Neither is it satisfactory that in such a central location that they are shut on Mondays.
La Chaloupe d'or is not recommended and I would not return.
