We stayed with my parents at Huis Koning in October 2011. This woman is amazing. The place is spotless, the food is to die for and plentiful. We would come "home" in the evening to homemade dark chocolate mousse in our refridgerator, or a cake. I could cry thinking about it.

The pastries sitting on the welcome countertop in the kitchen had little cards that said "Take Me" on them. Yes, please!

The rooms were comfy and the outlook from the breakfast area is like a painting. Her children were cherubic little angels, that I am suspicious may have been hired actors because they were so cute and sweet.

We had to physically drag my father out when we left.

To this day it is the BEST B&B we have EVER stayed in and the price is fantastic.

I mean it.

Were to begin? Our group (5 women) descended on Lyn and Pieter on a bitter cold winter day. Candles were glittering in the hallway where we were warmly received, and invited in for a hot drink and home made sugar waffles in their beautiful kitchen, which overlooked a (then frozen) canal. After, we were shown to our rooms. We had the pleasure of having the entire place to ourselves, so we saw all 3 rooms, each spacious and beautifully appointed with luxuriously comfortable beds and pillows, a minibar, sumptuous private baths (towel heaters!) and high end bath products. Even the sheets on the beds were heavenly. Each room had home made treats waiting for us each day, which were absolutely delicious (Lyn was in the restaurant business before opening her B&B). Ask for Lyn's apple cake recipe. Yum.

Breakfast was a feast. Lyn makes nearly everything herself. There are home made preserves, breads, pastries and waffles. Try the natural yogurt with raspberry coulis drizzled on. Fabulous! Lyn will make you eggs to order, and there is excellent coffee and tea available all day.

In terms of cleanliness, the house is absolutely pristine.

The place is perfectly located on a quiet street within a 7-10 minute walk to all the old city sites. Lyn was terrifically helpful with our visit, providing marked maps, guidebooks and plenty of good advice as to what to see and where to eat.

We all agreed that this was the best B&B experience any of us had ever had.

Huis Koning is the most perfect place to stay whilst in Bruges. Lynn and Peter made us feel so welcome and comfortable. We cannot recommend it enough, we love it here. Thank you both and hopefully see you again soon.

I stayed at Huis Koning near the end of a trip that started in Amsterdam, passed through Germany and ended in Belgium. Our time in Bruges was so wonderful that we were worried about anything ever measuring up. From the tiny streets and the view of the water, this B&B has a fairy-tale perfect location. The room was fantastic, Peter and Lynn were friendly and helpful, and the food! From the delicious breakfast, to the all-day baked goods selection, and even the surprise treats left in the room, we never went hungry. The only bad this about our stay was having to leave. As a Canadian, it is a little far for a quick getaway, but next time I find myself in Europe, I will be planning my trip around a return visit.
