At 2.00pm neither of the puddings listed as part of the fixed price lunch were available, but we were with a friend who needs to eat regularly so we sat down. Minestrone was OK, but the risotto was badly overcooked and very salty. One of our party was happier with his pasta.
In the absence of pudding I asked if we might have coffee instead. "No, I told you there was no dessert". I don't think it would have hurt them to give us a coffee instead, nor to have answered the query a little more graciously.
The surroundings are pleasant and the poor risotto notwithstanding it could have been an OK lunch had there been any indication at all that our custom was valued. What does a cup of coffee or tea cost them after all?
