At 2.00pm neither of the puddings listed as part of the fixed price lunch were available, but we were with a friend who needs to eat regularly so we sat down. Minestrone was OK, but the risotto was badly overcooked and very salty. One of our party was happier with his pasta.

In the absence of pudding I asked if we might have coffee instead. "No, I told you there was no dessert". I don't think it would have hurt them to give us a coffee instead, nor to have answered the query a little more graciously.

The surroundings are pleasant and the poor risotto notwithstanding it could have been an OK lunch had there been any indication at all that our custom was valued. What does a cup of coffee or tea cost them after all?

I’ve had better pizzas but for the price, quite ok. Place was almost full but order came fast, service was nice & polite.
Worth the money.

When we walked in, the place was empty and after having a meal there I fully understand why. The Ricotta and Spinach Cannelloni was quite good, but the Risotto dished up was dry, salty and only had a hint of seafood inside. The cheese pizza was horrendous and so dry that my kids finished their drinks half way through the meal just to get the pizza to go down. The Spaghetti Bolognese was passable for a 10 year old. At the end of the meal when the waiter asked us how the meal was I gave him an honest answer which seem to offend him. He tried to explain how the pizza dries in the oven as if we have never had pizza before. If you do not want honest criticism you should not ask how the meal was. I would most definitely not recommend La Cantina as there is a very good reason the patrons are scarce.

Visit Brugge several times but had never eaten here so as we fancied pasta we gave it a try. Ended up eating here three times during our week in Brugge. Simple pasta dishes but cooked very well. Good taste and pleasant service. If you want a decent meal without the fuss and pomp that some places add to their pasta dishes then give this place a go.
