Really nice square with very typical buildings. In my opinion better atmosphere than in Markt square. ‎

Adjacent to the Markt square this area contaons the chapel of the holy blood and the site of the old church which was pulled down and sold off to fund war reparations if my memory serves me right.

As we were there on a very cold weekend, the square still had a lot of hustle and bustle. I dread to think what it's like in the summer! But there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the square, with several popular attractions close by. Also the starting point for a lot of the walks, the city bus tour and the horse carriages. Well worth a visit.

Classical buildings surround the square, with one side largely devoted to cafes on the ground level. No shortage of horse and buggy transport at a cost of 50 Euros a ride. Some local events can spoil the square visually but these are normally of short duration. We were present during two cycle races with accompanying glitz. Worth visiting the Historium café on first floor, giving great views over the square.

The Burg Square near the Markt place is one of the most beautifull places from Bruges.
You can take a lot of photo's from the City Hall, the Church of the Holy blood, the lovely other buildings on this square, the horse drawn carriages, etc. You can set on terras or in tearoom and look to the many visiting people. A must see if you visit the old town of Bruges.
