We chose Bruges for a long weekend destination and chose the Oud Huis de Peellaert after carefully sorting through all of the reviews, etc. This hotel is quite well situated, but as Bruges is small, most hotels there offer easy access to all of the sights. There is no lobby to speak of, just a reception desk, and the young women who were on duty during our stay were always well-informed, polite and could speak several languages. Our room was a bit smaller than I had expected, as most of the photos show rooms with a small sofa. Ours had 2 chairs, facing a wardrobe. The strangest thing about this hotel was the water in the bathrooms. The hot water tap gives hot water and the cold water tap gives.....hot water! We left it running for quite some time, and eventually after perhaps 5 minutes, it cooled off. Unless you like brushing your teeth with hot water, this is a problem! We mentioned this to the receptionist, who seemed surprised, but when we used the bathroom near the reception area, the situation was identical. Considering that the hotel has a notice in the bathrooms asking guests to help the environment by saving water by not changing the towels daily, it is ironic that they don't fix the plumbing!

The bed was comfortable, TV offered a few English channels and if you get a room away from the front of the hotel, you'll get a good night's sleep. As has been mentioned in other reviews, there is a youth hostel across the street from the Peellaert and on our first night, there was a crowd of rowdy, drunken British tourists.

Room Tip: Anywhere away from the front street.

The hotel has high standards of professionalism. The rooms were spotless, roomy and well appointed. The staff on reception, particularly Marie, were friendly as well as extremely helpful and informative. You could not wish for a better location, a stone's throw from the Burg and Markt. My wife and I were aware, from the TA reviews, of the legendary breakfasts but were a little sceptical. How wrong we were! The breakfast selection is vast and of a very high qualty. I would not hesitate to come back to this fine hotel.

Lovely hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room (superior upgrade given for birthday). Had requested a rear room as other reviews stated quieter, this was.
Bruge very pretty and this hotel location was easy to walk to all the main attractions and many restaurants which were all very good. Great food, chocs, beer & wine but need lots of Euro's as most things quite expensive. One of our favourite restaurants (near hotel) was De Gouden Kroes, very friendly owners, only 3 or 4 choices of each course but very good.

Room Tip: Our rear superior room was very quite, nice large room and good bathroom. (No 116)

First time in this property - initial impression very good. Reception staff very helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Splendid breakfast with an extensive mix of hot and cold food served in a beautiful bright and airy room. Very well located - you can walk to anywhere from there. Difficult to find by road but thanks to an up to date satnav we made it! Hotel parking exists but limited and expensive - we used the city centre underground car park and walked but there is space to unload outside the hotel and then park elsewhere. Highly recommended but shop around for best rates,.

Room Tip: Thanks to good double glazing even rooms at the front relatively quite
